Sam (srussel) | 3 comments Hey guys! I'm looking for a short, light book to read during my busy semester. I love reading, but I find it hard to stay engaged with large, complex books during the school year when I already have to read books like that for class. Any recommendations?

Luke Lee (lukelee2142) | 1 comments Hey, Sam! I'm currently reading Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward. It's not "light" - it's actually pretty heavy since it's about the racial history of Mississippi (my home state). It's incredibly interesting and well-written. I've only had a few reading sessions this semester but I've blown through it. Would definitely suggest!

I read nearly 40 YA novels last semester for a class, so if that sounds appealing let me know. I don't really suggest them since lots of older people scoff at YA.

Sam (srussel) | 3 comments Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try anything that other people have loved. Also, I don't mind reading well-written YA, but I'm especially interested if you have any suggestions for my 16 year old brother. He loves to read but can be pretty picky when it comes to books. One of his favorites was 'I am the Messenger,' if you've heard of it.

Rosa | 2 comments Hey Sam!

When I'm very busy, I like to read Harry Potter (classic) or other fantasy books to get my mind off things... Because I have to read a lot for my degree (philosophy) I like to relax by taking a walk and listening to podcasts. That way you also relax your eyes ;)

If you really want to read something short and exciting, I would recommend Camus's The Stranger (bit heavy, bit weird but very interesting nonetheless) or some short stories (I would recommend Trevor Williams, H.G. Wells, and there are some great ones here https://www.classicshorts.com/ or here https://www.tor.com/category/all-fict... ).

I would really recommend the collected works of George Orwell but I don't know if you're into that? Its a wonderful collection of letters and essays that you can pick up whenever you want.

Good luck!
