message 53: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments It is 1:45am here and I have landed... and am going to sleep! I didn’t finish Ghosts of Gotham on the plane. Not sure if that’s what I will keep reading as 4/12 unfolds, or if I’ll switch to something else... I am literally going to sleep on it :)

message 54: by Nicole (new)

Nicole P | 1834 comments I'm off to a good start 😊 I have three books lined up for today and am halfway through the first one Always on My Mind

message 56: by Devann (new)

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments not sure how much i'll actually get done today, but i've started Over Your Dead Body on audio, will read a little bit of Seven Blades in Black, and hopefully finish the last third of Alien: Echo.

message 57: by Laura (new)

Laura | 9707 comments I've started The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris I'm 10% in and suspect its going to be a 4 or 5 star read for me!

Everyone is linked up to here! Welcome everyone!

Happy reading.

Yeah Alysa, glad to hear you arrived safely!

message 59: by Geri (new)

Geri I will try to stay focused and read the book Severance by Ling Ma today. I have started the audio. That way I can do things around the house with my wireless headphones and won’t waste a minute! LOL

Sounds like you are off to a great start, DeVann and Laura!

Multitasking! Very nice Geri. Your book looks interesting. Let us know what you think.

message 62: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I read the last 120 pages of The Dream Thieves this morning but since then it's been very slow-going - turns out I (once again) have a lot more to do than I expected...

message 63: by Nicole (new)

Nicole P | 1834 comments I managed to finish all three books! Woohoo 💃🏼🎉 I started off with Always on My Mind (Lucky Harbor, #8) by Jill Shalvis which was like visiting old friends. It's book #8 in the Lucky Harbor series and it was a fun friends-to-lovers story. Then I went into Pretties (Uglies, #2) by Scott Westerfeld and that was another creepy read about how society makes us believe that being this perfect specimen is the only way to be. Was great to see the female MC break free from that kind of thought. And I just finished Merciless King (Lawless Kings, #5) by Sherilee Gray and this one was unplanned. Just released today and all the book bloggers I follow were toting how great it was. So I decided an alpha male was just what I needed.

I have started a 4th book and will see how far I get tonight.

message 64: by Kat (last edited Apr 12, 2019 08:34AM) (new)

Kat Gale (superkatness) I started reading the novel Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor, which I'll finish tonight because it's over 400 pages, but quick reading nonetheless.
Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #2) by Laini Taylor
And I am really enjoying reading the poetry collection Toward the Winter Solstice: New Poems by Timothy Steele. So much of it resonates. I am going to try to find his other work too.

Alanna | 7 comments I'm in too, hope it's not too late! I can't drop everything, cause, y'know, work, but it is Friday so I can stay up a bit.

message 66: by Meg (new)

Meg (makeli2) 40% into Maui Madness (Zoe Donovan Mystery #7) by Kathi Daley Maui Madness. Will read as much as I can; I'm a caregiver so I'll have to be flexible.

message 67: by Kat (last edited Apr 12, 2019 09:40AM) (new)

Kat Gale (superkatness) Woo! I found two more books of poetry by Timothy Steele on Internet Archive so I added those to my reading list today. Hopefully I'll be able to finish them both:
Sapphics Against Anger and Other Poems by Timothy Steele Sapphics Against Anger and Other Poems
The Color Wheel by Timothy Steele The Color Wheel

message 81: by Allegra (last edited Apr 13, 2019 09:30AM) (new)

Allegra | 219 comments I need to log the audio book before I forget. Will fill in the morning soon/later. And I'm still going.

8am - 9:15, 10:45 - 11:05, 12:00 - 12:20: Read The Man Who Fell in Love with the Moon, pp. 43 - 82

1pm - 3:15pm: Listened to The Third Policeman, Discs 5 & 6. Finished book.

10pm - 10:45, 11:15 - 12m: The Man Who Fell in Love with the Moon, pp.82 - ?? (99 when I logged off, but my goal is 125 before I fall asleep; update in the morning).
Well, a bit over-ambitious. Not sure on the exact timing, but I woke with my phone stuffed into 104/105. Ok for a busy day.

I earned the coin.

message 82: by Devann (new)

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments finished Alien: Echo! although i only had about 100 pages left lol. very good, would definitely recommend it even to people like me who aren't super familiar with the alien universe

gonna see how far i can get in Seven Blades in Black now i think. it's so long though that i don't know if i'll be able to finish it tonight even though i've only got about 30% left

message 83: by Alanna (new)

Alanna | 7 comments Spent about 60 minutes on The Master and Margarita, and dang what a 40 or so pages that was! Russian names are hard for my untrained ear, so I really had to slow down and really chew it over.

message 84: by Cindy III (new)

Cindy III | 57 comments I'm late, but I am in.

message 85: by Alanna (new)

Alanna | 7 comments Alright, that's a second hour, with a bit more Master and Margarita, five pages here, five pages there, in different books. Super jealous of those of you who got to read more. I think I'm too tired to focus on a single book, so the two hour minimum and bedtime it is.

message 86: by Kat (last edited Apr 12, 2019 06:31PM) (new)

Kat Gale (superkatness) Finished Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor, which is heartbreakingly realistic in terms of the pervasiveness of choosing war over peace.
Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #2) by Laini Taylor
Also finished Toward the Winter Solstice: New Poems by Timothy Steele
Toward the Winter Solstice New Poems by Timothy Steele
and
Sapphics Against Anger and Other Poems also by Timothy Steele.

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Hi everybody! I haven’t been online since my last post in this thread but I have been reading!
Got in a bit more of Ghosts of Gotham by Craig Schaefer and then set it aside to read a decent chunk of Snow in May Stories by Kseniya Melnik .

I love seeing what everybody else has been reading :D

Ooh, Severance by Ling Ma was really good! I read it not too long ago. What’s funny is that my mother saw me reading it and asked if she’d like it too, and I was like “Noooooo.” She usually reads super-mainstream pulpy bestsellers, not literary fiction. But she read it anyway, and liked it, and we had a nice book talk! This NEVER EVER happens!

message 98: by The other Sandy (new)

The other Sandy | 282 comments I just spent 4 hours on All's Fair Complete Collection: Fair Game/Fair Play/Fair Chance by Josh Lanyon, but I'm nowhere near done because it's 876 pages long. I was hoping to spend more time on it, but it's not really holding my attention.

message 99: by Cindy III (new)

Cindy III | 57 comments Well I did not manage to read for at least 2 hours before midnight. However, I did start Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass: The Story Behind an American Friendship and I should finish it today or tomorrow time allowing. Also I learned that the American Civil War started April 12, 1861 (158 years ago) at 4:30 a.m. 😲 (I was not the best student so if I ever learned this I forgot, but it is a weird-cool coincidence to (re)learn it.)
