Curt Bobbitt | 1 comments Did Alan Bradley use the character Undine in Edith Wharton's 1913 novel The Custom of the Country as a basis for cousin Undine in the recent books? A short review of Wharton's book appears the Wall Street Journal, March 23, 2019, as part of the list of "Five Best Books on Bewilderment" by Meghan Cox Gurdon. The first sentence of the review says "Undine Spragg's radiant loveliness confounds the men who fall for her." The short review makes her sound like Becky Sharp in Vanity Fair.
