Dianne (dianne1) | 11 comments More and more I have encountered this - When clicking on a book (kindle edition mostly) that I want to see on Amazon, sometimes I get the Amazon error message page ( with the dogs) sometimes I get a stream of what looks to be code. Since I have never before used my librarian 'powers' lol, and I haven't seen in the manual any way I could fix this---I was wondering what to do.

Emily | 17605 comments If the Kindle ASIN is no longer used, its book is no longer available for purchase/no longer being published, or is invalid, this is what will happen. Sometimes books are re-published with different ASINs.

Different countries' Amazon pages sometimes use different ASINs than the US, so if your Amazon page is not set to that country, it won't find it.

So there can be several reasons. You can post an example and we can look at it if you like.

I DO notice that if I manually go to Amazon and look up the books...I generally find them. I there somewhere that I should be posting these ASIN mistakes or are these something librarians are allowed to fix on their own?

Sandra | 31478 comments Dianne, it depends on what the problem is. As Emily said there could be several reasons why.

Please post next time so we could have a look at it.

Most of the time, the ASIN was valid at some point, so we can't change it unless it contains an obvious typo or something. It could also be valid on another country's Amazon site.
If you find a Kindle edition with a different ASIN (an ASIN that is NOT on Goodreads), you can add it as another edition (but not in place of the existing one). :)

Dianne (dianne1) | 11 comments I just found a book with this problem, it is called "Love on Lexington Ave." It is also not in the "add book/author" pull-down menu.

Lisa | 3 comments Hi everyone,

We are having trouble making the Amazon link work on the main title page for SAINT by Chantal Fernado: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

When you click on AMAZON, it takes you to an error page. When I try to add the ASIN, it says it is already created. How do we activate the Amazon purchase page on the print dominant title-page?

Thank you!
Lisa

You're looking at the ebook, which would not be for sale at Amazon. You need to go through the Kindle edition.

Emily | 17605 comments The author can go to the edit page of the book and set the default edition if desired. That way you can choose either the print or the Kindle to be the default if you wish.
