I went with rural but am completely fine with all three. I just happen to have a few more books under rural.

Unfortunately, there's no good way to search for books with more than one tag here.

I think my f2f bookclub will also read Where the Crawdads Sing, but I voted for LGBT. I have Anger is a Gift on my want to read.

But still OK with whatever gets picked.

Be nice if trim matches tag, still waiting for those to align :)

Karin | 9255 comments Correct, one of the weaknesses of Goodreads is how difficult they make it to search by shelves. ALSO, even when you search by shelves it is very literal. I find more shelves by doing a google search for goodreads than any other way, but that doesn't fix the combining shelves search problem).

So if I want Canadian books, I can get a variety of shelves on a google engine search, but if I go to GR shelf check and I only put in Canadian, I just get Canadian, and not all of the other shelves with Canadian in it--it might be when I use two words I have that trouble, but I resort to googling now to find shelves here many times.

I see what you mean by literal. Today I noticed a tag called Oh-Canada, as well as Canadiana, Canadian and Canada. But a search for canada wouldn't pick up any of the others. America is worse with US, USA, United States, etc.

I don't know why it's so hard to set it up to search multiple words, Even back in the 90's (or maybe even 80's) you could search a database for multiple words with "and" "or" "not" or an asterisk (e.g. Canada*) to get variations. (Boolian search)

Is it? It could be because there are a lot of books set in small towns, which are often considered rural. (Though I live in a small hamlet that no longer feels rural at all.)

I voted for history because it has more potential to match Horizons and Trim books, but I have books in all categories that I'd be happy to read.

message 58: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12956 comments And I voted for rural (although I’d be fine for any of them) because I had a feeling it might match Trim.

That's on my list to read and I picked it up at the library but haven't cracked the cover yet! We may be reading it at the same time.

I found out yesterday that it's now free to read on Amazon Prime. So I can keep it as long as I want. I'm trying to finish Pachinko now.

I'd better go get it because the book will be due in a week or so!

message 62: by Becky (new)

Becky I'm SO relieved to see I'm not the only one behind in my reading. I'm still reading my TRIM book from January!!! *sigh*

I'm torn between voting for history and rural. So many of my TRIM books are history, but we bought a farm in rural TN not long ago so rural seems very applicable to where we are in life right now.

Choices, choices...

message 63: by Doughgirl5562 (new)

Doughgirl5562 | 960 comments I'll be happy with any of the three choices, but I might have thrown the max points towards my favorite :-)

I've been in the same boat. Life changes really interfered last year. I'm a bit better this year but not anything back to my "normal"

Regina Lindsey | 1005 comments It's no secret where my votes went.

Joni | 626 comments Anxiously waiting the announcements of all three books (tag, culture and trim) so I can plan for April!!!! Now to go finish my March culture book.

message 67: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9301 comments So sorry, Joni, but you are going to have to wait a little longer. It went down to the wire, but those who voted for LGBTQ need to recast their votes.

message 68: by Meli (new)

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments Can I decide to NOT recast my vote?
Simply because I do not have a preference with rural or history.

Yes, it is totally optional.

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments Dang it! I was rooting for LGBTQ, and thought it had a good chance of winning.

I'm thinking In Cold Blood if history wins.
Educated if rural wins.
