Overcoming Past Struggles and Moving On

The main theme that I found from this book is growth and perseverance. When being put in a tough situation and finding herself scarred, Starr decides to push through the pain and try to be her best self. Throughout the book, Starr is hurt by the situation she has been thrown into, but also matures greatly from it. Without the unfortunate event of seeing her close friend get shot, I don’t think Starr would’ve become the strong person she is. I think this is a very inspiring theme for anyone to read and recognize.
