Rebekah (bexbooks) | 9 comments I’m sure this story is part of an anthology, but I only know of the single story. I’ve done many google searches with no luck. If anyone knows the name or author, thanks in advance!

If I recall correctly, a man is maybe telling a friend the story of his haunting. I believe one of the men, likely the friend, was a minister/vicar/etc. The man is walking in a park and sees a figure, I think on a bench, that is very non-descript. I don’t know if he sees the figure follow him, but he believes the figure/spirit/poltergeist followed him home and came through the door when he opened it. He has the sense that the entity is obsessed with him and cloying and simpering. His evidence is based on the fact that his pet bird begins to mimic and unseen entity. He’s repulsed by the spirit and is being driven mad by its presence. He has to keep his bird’s cage covered so he can avoid seeing the body language of the spirit.

Rebekah (bexbooks) | 9 comments Maybe as many as 4 years ago, but it’s old old. I came across it in a list of classic scary stories. I don’t think it’s by Ray Bradbury, because none of the titles of his stories ring a bell for that, but I was reading some of his short horror stories at the same time, possibly from the same list.

Nóinín (fagurfifill) | 168 comments I'm sure I've read this, but where?
Accidentally-picked-up, invisible-to-others ghost feature heavily in Sheridan Le Fanu's stories, however, the covered bird cage is neither in 'Green Tea' nor 'The Watcher', nor 'The Familiar'. I've already tried some "stories similar to ..." searching, but so far, no luck...
