Better: Waking Up to Who We Could Be

Too often, the Bible has been used to justify injustice. In this book, Melvin Bray takes some of the Bible stories that can be troublesome and re-frames them to be more consistent with our understanding of a loving God. He explains how, by changing how we interpret Bible stories, we can come closer to establishing the "beloved community" that Martin Luther King, Jr. worked to achieve. His writing style is a bit scholarly, but the message is worth the challenge of reading it. I would recommend this book for a small group study.
