I thought that this had more action then some of the previous books did. Great action in this. The scene where they entered the room where Rachel was being held and it was made known she was holding a live grenade was the most chilling to me. Also when she was hiding in the shower and could hear gunshots in her room and the door being kicked in was scary too.
Those were two of mine, also, Laura. I was really impressed with how Rachel reasoned through her abduction and fought like crazy to get free. Seeing the attack through Celida’s eyes was also daunting.
I also liked getting Xang’s point of view, which helped me understand his ruthlessness and how he ended up being so desperate. He was running from his cohorts and the FBI and I don’t think I would have understood how he got captured otherwise (his cohorts trapping him in the building to die).
The suspense was killing me.

I really enjoyed the suspense in this one too. The two guys breaking into the hotel room, not knowing if Celida was okay and then Rachel fighting them all the way was really suspenseful. The scenes where the guys break into the room where Rachel and Brandon are and from that point on, getting the grenade from Rachel's hands and escaping down the stairwell, running into Xang were all riveting.I really liked getting Xang's POV too, Laura.
Looks like we all agree that those scenes were powerful! Kudos to the author for her skills at writing great action scenes.
