Rachel and Jake had an earlier history that was slowly revealed throughout the story. Did that technique help establish their relationship as longer term versus an instant love affair?

That technique seemed to give it sufficient time to develop and accept in my brain. Otherwise, I would have felt like they went from zero to sixty in no time. It worked for me.

It worked for me too. If we hadn't been told about their previous relationship, it would have felt way too fast.
