SOLVED. Adult psychological thriller written within last 3 years, a woman on vacation at lake kills a man. [s]

Hi, a library patron just came in and said she wants to recommend a book that she read in the last couple of years, but she doesn't remember the title.

According to her, she thinks it has a white cover and the author is male and has a European/German sounding name.

The plot points that she can remember: A woman is on vacation at a lake with her son and husband. She kills a man out of the blue. As she is being investigated for the murder it turns out this man did something to her sister at a party years ago, and she had repressed the memory.

This isn't one that I've read, so I'm hoping the hive mind will be able to help. I thank you in advance!

The cover isn't white (it could be an alternative cover, however - this one is the TV show tie-in cover) and that's a female author, but still could be the one she is looking for.

Dang, and also originally written in 1999. Maybe not after all... I only watched the first part of the show, so I don't know how it ends yet. :)

Hey, thanks for the suggestion, I think this is the one, and I've emailed her to ask her. Hey, the cover is sort of "whitish..." and the TV tie in was published in 2017 and my library does own the TV tie-in edition. YOU ROCK.
