Maryse asks Jace to remain at the Institute and he literally jumped at the chance. What did that tell you about him?

He feels that the Institute is his home and the Lightwoods his family. I'm sure he felt great relief when she asked him to stay.

That was the first time Jace showed his vulnerability. They are his family and he showed how much he wants and needs them. It was a very revealing moment.
