SOLVED. Fairy Community/Runaway/ Changeling Boy. [s]

Adult Fiction/ Fantasy(?)/ Read in early 2000's/ Not part of a series/ Story of a group of fairies in the woods in either northeast or northwest US in the recent past. These fairies are somehow changelings of children who have been stolen (or runaway?). At first they enjoy their freedom but then want to return home but can't./ Written in English, published in US.

Would the novel happen to be the Boy Who Lost Fairyland by Catherynne M. Valente ?

I think it is high unlikely though as the main character is a troll turned changeling and he didn't run away but was kidnapped.
