Emma and Parnell Vaughn had a dysfunctional relationship. When Frank determined that Emma was the abuser, no one seemed to be able to even envision a woman abusing a man. Your thoughts about this reverse role in domestic violence?

Phrynne | 607 comments I think people still find this difficult to accept, There was a case recently in Australia and the woman in question was a tiny little thing who looked totally sweet and demure. I think she used a combination of emotional and physical abuse.

I agree, Phrynne. In this story, they out and out rejected the idea. Today, most would at least consider the possibility but it’s still hard to fathom when the male is physically stronger.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments People today still have a hard time believing that a woman could be the abuser. I don't think they believe that a man would put up with it.

~ Giulia ~ | 193 comments It's sad but even today people have a hard time believing a woman could abuse a man. As if the man being physically stronger is the only thing that keeps women from leaving a situation of domestic violence.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Yes, no one wants to believe that women can abuse men just like they don't want to accept that children kill.

Battered wife syndrome should be battered spouse syndrome.

So true.

Amen to that, Lauren!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 242 comments It is hard to believe that women can get an upper hand on a man even today. The fact is that some women start as "nagging" then it progresses to more verbal and physical abuse. I watch a lot of true crime. It isn't unusual for a policeman to say something like, how can that little woman hurt her husband.

I don't think it happens as often, but I can see where men would be just as ashamed and afraid to report the abuse as women.

I agree, Sharon. It’s still hard for people to see this role reversal but we’re getting there.
