ABANDONED. Help finding a "magic academy" book with blue cover

Can't seem to find this book I read ~8 years ago.
I vaguely remember some of the plot:
Girl somehow shows up to some type of magic boarding school.
Somehow has some romance with a boy while there, he ends up being a ghost?
Ends with some type of grotto.

The cover was blue with some type of sparkles, and may have been a one world title. Can't remember the author.

I read it like 3 times in middle school.

Sounds similar to Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins. Cover has some blue on it. I can't recall if she likes a ghost though. ;) Hex Hall
