Book Genre: romance, danger, mystery. I read this book in the 1970’s. The heroine travels to Hong Kong because she inherited the family estate there. Fairly soon after arriving there, she is in a car with the hero (?) and as they travel down the road, all of a sudden the hero grabs her and pushes her down on the seat. The reason for that was because at the last second he saw a wire stretched across the road which would have decapitated them. It turns out someone is trying to prevent her from talking over the estate. That is really all the details I can remember.

Something by Anne Maybury? For example, The Jeweled Daughter and Green Fire are set in Hong Kong, but there may not be an inheritance.

I can't find much information about the book but searching AbeBooks.com for books published before 1980 this is the only novel that came up searching "Hong Kong" "estate":
