Michelle (michelle_mc) Sorry girls, my plans came to a halt when my son developed a rash and took ill. I have had a good look through my choices now things have calmed down, and I think I'm going with Rule (Marked Men, #1) by Jay Crownover

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5307 comments Ah Michelle I hope everything is okay, it's awful when kids are I'll you feel so helpless.
We had a case of that Slapped Face syndrome going a Oundle the school last year, who picked it up??? Yep you guessed it, my little one! If there is anything to catch, he'll get it lol.
We've had chickenpox, swine flu, you name it!

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5307 comments OMG I have fat finger syndrome today lol, none of that made any sense as my autocorrect was on a mission.

Joni | 89 comments Sorry about your child Michelle. Nothing serious I hope. Hopefully all are having a good weekend!

message 60: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) Thanks girls, he's doing fine now. I think it was just a viral infection, unfortunately when they complain of a sore head and they have an unexplainable rash and fever you always think meningitis. Ibuprofen & Piriton and he's back to normal thankfully.

What a nightmare, I feel your pain. All 3 of mine had chicken pox. Unfortunately not at the same time so we had it for just over a month in our house, I was demented by the end! I'm hoping to start my book tomorrow :)

WEEK 1
SPOT 5

Rush (The Game, #1) by Eve Silver
RATING ☆☆☆☆
Finished 30/08/2014

I'm not sure whether I really liked this book or not, but it ends on a mahoosive cliffhanger and I have to read the next one, so it must have been good right?
Miki saves the life of a small girl by pushing her out of the way of a truck, at the same time as she is hit, she gets "pulled" into another world.
With 4 other teammates she must defeat the Draug, an alien species that live within our world, that we can not see.
It is just like a video game, they can score and loose points, and they have a health bar bracelet, it must stay green and never red, if you die in the "game" you die in real life.
I will be reading the next part soon to see what happens to Jackson, and if Miki gets her HEA.

Joni | 89 comments Roseflower Creek by Jackie Lee Miles By Jackie Lee Miles
(week 1 spot 5 review)
finished/reviewed 08/31/14.
Rating **
The more I got into this, the less I liked it. It begins with the death of the protagonist, a 10 year old girl living in the South in the 1950s. The story then flashes back to three years before her death. Lori-Ann's life is a series of tragedies. It seems nothing good ever happens to her or her family, and I think that's what got to me. Although there are some small acts of kindness, friendship and love, the majority of the story is tragedy after tragedy. Her father leaves, her grandma dies, her cousin contracts polio, etc. the list goes on and on. I really don't recommend this one.

Review:
I don't even know what to say or how to review this. I believe my jaw is still resting on the ground after finishing this. Holy crow what a ride and what a journey since book 1! Kayden will permanently hold a special place in my heart. This book is the final showdown and I promise it'll make you feel every emotion under the sun while reading it. The world is unique and I can't really think of another series that's similar! I highly recommend this to paranormal lovers!

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Yay! Wasn't it a cool take on fairytales? I liked the next one even better.

message 73: by Greta (new)

Greta Yes, I really liked how she brought in other stories from literature too...Jane Austen even!

Greta Week 1
Spot 5

Read: Red (Transplanted Tales, #1) by Kate SeRine by Kate SeRine
Completed: 8/28/14
Rating: ★★★★

Review: I have read a couple fairy tale retellings lately that have disappointed me, but I had hope that this one would be different. I was pleasantly surprised! Red is a story about Tess Little, aka Little Red Riding Hood, and her adventures as an enforcement agent for the Fairytale Management Authority. I really enjoyed how all of the different fairy tale characters interacted with each other and that Serine didn't limit herself to using only fairy tale characters. She also used characters from other genres and the world they are transplanted in here is much more grim and gritty. I also liked how her romance with Nate Grimm progressed and look forward to reading more about these characters in the next books!

Michelle (michelle_mc) Week 1

Space = 5
Alternate: R Title

Rule (Marked Men, #1) by Jay Crownover by Jay Crownover

Read: 3/9/14
Rated: 5 Stars

My Review: I came across this book earlier this year and I thought it sounded good, throw in my GR friends reviews and I added it to my tbr pile. Neither of these things prepared me for this book in any way. I absolutely loved it! It has lots of things I love, opposites who compliment each other, tattooed bad boys, dysfunctional families, women with a surprising inner strength and a story that grips you and does not let go.

I was put through the emotional wringer with this one but like Shaw I was inexplicably hooked on Rule. Or maybe it is easily explained once you see just how his page presence affects you. There is so much I could say but I truly don't want to give anything away, let me say this - I have a book hangover. It doesn't happen often but this one did it for me. I'll definitely be continuing on with this series and right now I would love some more ink!

message 81: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5307 comments It's on my TBR pile Michelle, I shall move it up the list, sounds good.

message 82: by VNerdbooks (new)

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5307 comments Whoop we have all of our reviews in already, we are steaming lol.
I think we get our free pass for that as well?

message 83: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) I really liked it, but then it was so easy to imagine Jared Leto as Rule. That right there made it a winner for me! :)

message 84: by Michelle (last edited Sep 03, 2014 12:53PM) (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) I thought the pass was for emergencies, incase one of us can't get a review done for some reason? We get to pass once throughout the whole game if needed.

message 85: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments We just earned it today, and it'll be there for future use :)
Good job 4TBRW!
