Shivani (thebooksbugg) | 1 comments Most uplifting book I have read in a long time.

I received this book as review copy through a book review program.

My ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5

"From Ashes to Dreams" by Rashmi Trivedi is a book with a soul.

We give and give until we are left with nothing to offer. But how will you have a healthy relationship with anyone, if you don't give enough love to yourself.

It is a story of three orphans - Naina, Kusum and Raghav, who were left at the orphanage of Shanti amma even before they could learn to utter any word. Even though there were other kids too but these three shared a greater friendship.

Naina always trusted Kusum in every stage of her life. Raghav was as equally important as Kusum. The two girls shared a room in the orphanage. When time came, three of them left the orphanage together and stayed together.

While growing up, Raghav developed a soft corner for Naina but Kusum always disliked this fact. Even though they all were close friends but still Kusum felt jealous of Naina.

Naina was a simple girl with a lost look on her face. Every night she wished that someday she too will be loved deeply and that she too will give all the love that she has.

But little did she know that life is much more than just having that someone in your life.

She does learn it the tough way and comes out stronger, making her a changed person altogether. She realises that there are lots of things to do that a lifetime won't be enough. She goes on with a fresh zeal in her life to accomplish all her dreams.

The main story is about naina but other characters - Siddharth, Srishti, Rajitha, Anurag, also play equally important role in the development of the story.

Critical analysis

Firstly, let's look at the cover of the book which is beautiful and powerful at the same time. The quality and format of the book cover is excellent.

Title of the book totally justifies with the story as Naina rises from ashes, to make way towards her dreams.

The beginning of the story isn't exactly the beginning. First half of the story is in flashback and the other half of the story is in current scenerio which is cleverly plotted.

The writing style is simple yet effective. It is not a self - help book but isn't any less then one. The book holds the power to make you see some hard truths of life that, love , hate, trust, loyalty, failure are all inevitable parts of life and we have to grow through all of that at some point.

The most interesting thing I found about the book was that, how different characters responded to different situations. No two persons think exactly the same way. What is right for one person might not be for the other. With this style of storytelling, it was easy to understand the exact thinking of the characters.

The first thought I had after reading this book was, "I have never read such a positive book."

With the fast pacing world, we make so many relations and break too, but the most important relationship you must have is with yourself because even if everyone leaves, still life goes on.

It is a must read for everyone.

Blurb :
The book revolves around three orphans, Naina, Kusum and Raghav. They were inseparable and also Known as the three musketeers of the orphanage.

They grew up together, went to the same school and shared every little detail with each other.
Yet they were different. Naina was always lost in her thoughts. She talks less whereas Kusum is totally the opposite. She always envied Naina.Raghav is sensible and he feels that he has to protect Naina no matter what.

The story starts with an end. Where Naina wants to kill herself. She wants to end everything.
But why? What would have happened that prompted Naina to take this step? Read the book to find out.
