A rebellious streak ran through Lauren Halsted. It was fierce and unrelentingly beautiful, and woven through too many good girl layers to count, and she wasn't letting anyone tell her what to do.

Unless, of course, she was naked.

She wasn't looking for me and I sure as shit wasn't looking for her, but we found each other anyway and now we were locked in a battle of wills, waiting for the other to blink.

Sometimes the universe conspires to bring people together. Other times, it throws people down a flight of stairs and leaves them in a bruised and bloodied heap.

Nope, I'm only halfway through book one. If you don't have time for this one, don't get it. I might have DNFd it by now if two of my challenges weren't expecting me to finish it. It's not bad, I'm just bored with it, and there are other books calling to me at the moment.

Ah alright! I might check it out later, we'll see. I've got some other books I'd like to finish up first. I'm 20% into End Zone, finishing that today.

Ch 14 (50%) - (view spoiler)[ Ugh, slogging through this one. I don't know what is wrong, it is just not capturing my attention. Matt is also starting to bug me a little. I feel like his only dialogue is to say how much he wants his dick in her mouth. (hide spoiler)]
Ch 22 (76%) - (view spoiler)[ These two are driving me crazy. Matt clearly wants more than just sex, but he keeps falling back on that as his only way to communicate with her. I just wish there would be a scene with a little more substance from either of them. And Lauren? Why is she not smart enough to know that she has adapted to this arrangement and is still getting all her work done? Why does it have to be one or the other in her mind? (hide spoiler)]
Finished - (view spoiler)[ There must be something wrong with me. The smut in this book is hot and frequent, yet I thought the book was boring. I was initially excited because the characters were very "normal" people - no billionaires, no broke baristas - but it turns out normal people don't have any drama. I mean the dramatic climax was his dad dying right after they had a fight. It was just ??? dull. And if this book was just supposed to about the physical, I think I would have had an easier time accepting it, but I think it was trying to be more and underdelivered. I don't think I will be reading the next one. (hide spoiler)]
