Thanks man, that means a lot. You're right, there's so many factors we have to take into consideration when creating a story to make sure it works. Really appreciate the kind words.

Thanks so much, David! As far as my routine goes I typically read a while before beginning to write in the morning- usually fiction as that gets the wheels turning- the dive into work around 9 a.m. I'll stop at around 2 p.m. or at 2000 words, whichever comes first. Many days I'll only hit 1500 or so, but for me that's acceptable progress. I also take quite a few breaks to pace around and run through the scenes and dialogue as I write to make sure I know where the story's going.

David Brian (davidbrian) | 1673 comments Thanks, Joe. I guess sticking with the routine is a major ingredient; along with a good imagination, of course.
I mainly read fiction only after I've finished writing my own stuff. So I think I'll give your method a try, see if it helps to fire some brain cells.
Cheers mate!

It would probably make a decent boat anchor.

Ronald Kelly | 162 comments Joe, I just finished THE WAITING last night and thought it was incredible! You really have a very engaging and masterful literary voice; the characters, the plot, the execution of events... you did a wonderful job with this. I give this five big ol' stars, hoss. I'll be reading more of your work in the future.

Hey Ronald, I really appreciate that! This book is near and dear to my heart so it's always gratifying to know it connected for someone else. So glad you enjoyed the read!
