The Perks Of Being A Book Addict discussion
Help for a school project about reading

I used to be a teacher so I would see every day that it was something that made a difference. It pretty easy to spot who was a reader and who wasn't. For me personally, I can't imagine my life without reading. It was never really stressed to me as a child, but fortunately, it was something I enjoyed. Getting away from "real life" and just getting lost in something/some place else...taking a break from reality for a bit. As I became an adult, the reading only increased. I think it was the freedom to read what I wanted and what interested me rather than what was assigned. I always had a book in my bag for breaks and free periods. Now I keep one on my phone for when I'm waiting for Drs appointments, etc. A few years ago, I suffered a brain injury that changed my life and turned everything sideways. Fortunately, one of the big "therapy" tools is reading. Remembering what you read, who is who, etc. It's like having a built in excuse to pick up a book. You might find this poster helpful. It was up in another teacher's room and shows the benefits of reading.

my name is Lili and I’m a fourteen-year-old Austrian girl. Because of an english school project I’m doing some research on the topic “How important is being a good reader for life”. Now I want to ask all of you: Do you think that reading is an important skill today? What role does reading play in your life? Is it only a hobby or do you need it at work? Do you think being a good reader is important to get a good job? Did anyone start to read (more) and life changed?
I would be very pleased if someone has a mind to answer.
Yours sincerely,
Lili
