Editing

My novel is done. Gone through countless revisions, a couple beta readers but now my main concern is editing. Which platforms do you recommend for editing? I have seem some out there quite pricey, but then I want a good product. I would hate to see my novel published with grammatical errors. Any recommendations?

I have been through most all of them. Get the paid ProWritngAid. Reasonable price and best on the market. Comprehensive. Stay away from Grammerly. Expensive and not nearly as comprehensive.

I'm a ProWritingAid fan also, but you still need an editor. You can find some which will let you pay in installments. Send me a message and I can put you in touch with two of them. No matter how good the program, it still does't take the place of a decent editor.

I just found an editor last weekend on Twitter under the hashtag #WritingCommunity. One of the people I know reached out and gave me a reasonable price. Before that, I went on Fiverr but people have raised their price but if you don't mind paying a hefty price it's worth looking into.

Happy for you that you found an editor. In my opinion nothing beats a good editor who will take the time and do a proper job. Might have to pay a little but in the end it's worth it.

The price for editing is steep. A decent copy editor is around $1200 for a book of 100k words. A developmental editor is around $2500 to $3000 and up for the same number of words. A proofreader is cheaper, but not by much.

If you are like me and don't have that much lying around, find one that will let you pay in installments. It might take longer, but you do end up with an edited book to put out there.

I have just read a self-editing book but most people would need their book edited by a professional even after they had put into action all it suggested.
New writers dislike having their work changed but I have found it is worth it to have someone experienced to show where it could be improved.
You don't have to adopt their ideas but it does stop you making mistakes.
