Since at least a couple of us have finished Les Misérables, who would like to read The Count of Monte Cristo?

Meeeeee!!!!!!!! I'm planning to re-read The Count of Monte Cristo after I'm finished with Anne of Avonlea.
Yes, let's start it on the first of March. I hear the best translation is by Robin Buss, although that's not the one I have.

My copy is a great beautiful bound edition with no illustrations....just under 1100 pages, so no extra points, but it's so nice to hold and smells wonderful. I keep looking at it sitting on the shelf.

Well if it's printed in two volumes then two I suppose. That's like my Don Quixote - which I recommend if you haven't read it yet! I'm on part 2 now. :)

Either way, for me, logging them separately is a lot easier than calculating the total page count after getting to the second volume :D
Yesterday on the Metro I got to talking to a lady with a dog. Just as we were coming to her stop I mentioned how we were starting to read The Count of Monte Cristo starting in March. She put her hand not holding the leash on her chest and exclaimed, Ohhh! That's my FAVOURITE book!
My book has been kidnapped and is being held hostage... at my grandmother's! Now if only I had been warned about it - no time to visit this weekend! At least the library should have it, but then I have to wait until Monday... But on the positive side - my bags will be slightly lighter.

I like the illustrations. My book is very pretty but has none.
I'm rolling right along - page 51 so far.

I'd prefer to read it on paper, but if I can't get it from the library, I'll settle for the ebook!

I've got my copy and it's HUGE! It's a newer edition than the one I have at home and it's frustrating! As much as I want to read this, I have no desire to carry it along with me all day - it weighs an entire kilogram! And it's just the first part!

My copy is bloody huge too, with small writing, and heavy so I read it whilst lying on my little bed at home.
I'm switching between the Estonian translation, the English translation and the original French edition. It feels a little silly. Part of me wants to dedicate myself to one edition but since I've already read this book once, there's no harm in having three different ones...
I switched to a different Estonian edition - it's translated by the same translator, but it's an older print and a lot easier to carry around. So I'm finally making some progress. At the same time, I've got a lot of reading to do for school, so still going at it slow.

Forever Reading wrote: "Is it too late to join The Count of Monte Cristo group?"It's never too late! you can still read Les Miserables or any other classics you like as well :)
Well I don't think i'm going to finish it by the end of May :) But I have read over 800 of 1080pp as I was reading it slowly hoping everyone else would chime in here. I'm really enjoying it and wish i could just hoover up words in a book, suck them all in and read it like that cos it's spectacular!
I haven't been reading any books for a while so I'm still at page 280. BUT...a long holiday is coming up and hopefully I can read some more during that time :)
Syndi is back! *cheers*I'm on page 901/1080 now (179pp left!)
At this point in the book all hell breaks loose and the events are rolling right along!

Did you move to New York?
I'm so happy you have returned!
x
I moved from my parents' house to my own house (Yeay!!) I've never imagined before how busy it was..more than a month passed by so fast *sighThanks, Jazzy. I'm happy to be back. I really miss reading and chatting in this group
I haven't picked up the second volume of my edition yet... so many things to do and worry about. I have one exam left plus all the JET stuff, so might be a long time until I pick up something longer again.
