AA | 1397 comments So, what do you think of Esme? The more I think about it, the more she seems like the stereotypical trophy-wife.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Simona-- I'm kind of intense (completelyinsane) | 806 comments Lol.
She's sweet I guess, but totally overplayed. No one gives a crap

message 6: by Jesse (new)

Jesse | 38 comments Exactly she was one of the people who didn't really matter, well to me. I mean she was nice and all.

message 7: by Shakhi (new)

Shakhi (duude) | 75 comments Its the reason shes nice that i dont want to say anything bad about her :P

message 8: by Sheeky (new)

Sheeky (sheekster) | 169 comments I actually find Esme to be one of the few characters I can tolerate.

message 9: by Shakhi (new)

Shakhi (duude) | 75 comments You have a point.
But then again i don't think she actually says more than 3 words in each book...

message 10: by Highd (new)

Highd Esme is alright with me. She like all the other secondary character are only there to be 2 dimensional and background for Bella and Edward. She is sort of a Stepford wife though.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

whats a trophy wife?

message 12: by Shakhi (new)

Shakhi (duude) | 75 comments Like the perfect wife.

message 13: by Ain020596 (new)

Ain020596 She's lame, boring, 2-D and sickly sweet....
Okay, besides that, she seems to motherly-mormon. And she's younger than Edward technically but she's his mum, which boggles me.

message 14: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) | 316 comments Esme's sweet, but I feel she could have been a great chracter is SM had developed her more. Great things could have happened to her if she was developed, no 2D.

Olivia ^^The Awesome Mushroom^^ (canttaketheawesomeness) | 756 comments deleted user wrote: "whats a trophy wife?"

A trophy wife is simply a wife that doesn't do anything, is just for showing off. Just like a trophy.

Hence, Esme is a trophy wife, because she does nothing except be a mother hen.

message 16: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) | 316 comments Yeah...... I feel sorry for her pages and ink soul

Olivia ^^The Awesome Mushroom^^ (canttaketheawesomeness) | 756 comments ...? Okay... lol

message 18: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) | 316 comments I'm weird like that.

message 19: by Demon (new)

Demon | 96 comments What if the rules about the wife should please the husband is broken..Then the wife would be doing something cool like playing pranks on the husband and teasing the husband..Hahaha!! If Esme is like that then Twilight would be a better story..Oh and don't forget Carlisle should get revenge by playing pranks on her..

No comment on Bella though..i vote she would just die then end of story..nuff said..

message 20: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) | 316 comments Totally. Mutant Rensmee would probably have killed her in the end

message 22: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) | 316 comments It would've been much better.

message 23: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments Definitely. Then she could've just written from emo-Edward's POV, or maybe depressed-but-then-not-anymore-because-he-imprinted-Jacob. Or something.

message 25: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) | 316 comments Mutant Renesmme is defiantly bad too. But back to Esme.

In short, she's a trophy wife.

message 28: by Pixi (new)

Pixi | 94 comments lotsa lolz

message 29: by Pixi (new)

Pixi | 94 comments but really she's just a plain ol side character that wasnt important enough to focus on

message 30: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments LOL that's perfect ;)

Tanya Ito (ThingsThatGoQuack) | 48 comments Esme? Oh, I just opt to forgetting about her most of the time. She's bland and predictable enough, so you can either A) guess half of what she's going to say or B) ignore whatever comes out of her mouth without consequence.

Tanya Ito (ThingsThatGoQuack) | 48 comments Vedanti wrote: "Esme isn't bearable at all. She's just proof of the fact that Meyer is a horrible writer and has no sense of character development."

I find her to be much more bearable than the latter of the cast, seeing that she barely even makes enough appearances to grate on my nerves.

Plus, seeing that she's as good as any side character, she doesn't get any scenes or development. Developing an already flat character would prove to be useless.

Olivia ^^The Awesome Mushroom^^ (canttaketheawesomeness) | 756 comments What I found kind of weird was that during baseball she just suddenly, casually, even, mentions, "Oh yeah, did you know I had a baby and I lost it? That's why I threw myself off a cliff." Um what?

Tanya Ito (ThingsThatGoQuack) | 48 comments We all know at this point, though, that all Twilight characters are sociopaths.

No matter how disturbing her side comment was, I still don't find her all that annoying...as I said, I usually just tune her out.

Wait, in the movie or in the book? Cause I don't remember that.

AA | 1397 comments Really?

Maybe I've blocked the memory...
