SOLVED. Woman leaves husband while pregnant, he doesn't know. [s]

Fiction possibly contemporary genre. I probably read this book around ten years ago, 2008 perhaps.

A woman who works at a makeup counter drives off one day after discovering she is pregnant. Her husband isn't a horrible person but for some reason, she decides she doesn't want to raise a child with him. I think she ends up working in a hotel and starts to see the groundskeeper, her child is a teenager at this point and is told the groundskeeper is her father, although the teenager wonders why she doesn't look like her mother or the groundskeeper. I think it's told from the point of view of her daughter at points and third person at other points? I remember she calls her daughter the name that the groundskeeper has a tattoo of, and he objects to this as it is his past lover, but the woman does it anyway.

Any help greatly appreciated. I would like to write about it in an essay I have coming up.

Well done Jessica, I think you are correct. It shows how much books can be altered in the mind of the reader, I'd changed the plot a fair bit and think I'd mixed it with another one.
