For ISBN 9781471407765 it states the book has 304 pages, but the correct number is 248.

I have the paperback in front of me, It really is 248 pages ;)
That is including acknowledgments, so all the pages that are numbered.
Corrected. Amazon often has publisher's estimates for page count.
