I'm looking for an author whose last name might have started with a J, K, or L. I read her book in 2000, so it was probably written in the 90s. It's a coming of age story that follows a young girl into her teen years, and I think it's set in the south. I'd love to read this book again and others by the same author.

I'm sorry; I know it's not a lot to go on. It's probably young adult fiction. I don't remember details of the plot or any names of the characters. Odd detail I do remember - the local make out place is nicknamed "Stick 'Em In" Road, and the girl has a vague idea of what is being stuck where.
