Rachel Adiyah | 21 comments In the present age an asteroid impacts the Earth, causing the end of our current civilization. Somehow, one man survives by placing himself in some kind of stasis chamber beneath the Earth's surface.

The man is awakened about 10,000 years later by humans who have rebuilt civilization on Earth. They are surprised to find him; they do not remember or have any evidence of what we in the present would consider the history of humanity from the Indus Valley Civilization/Sumeria/Ancient Egypt through the asteroid impact. When the man from our time tries to tell them about the first 5,500 years of humanity's existence in civilization, they are in disbelief.

I found this on Amazon.com. I cannot remember anything else.

Thank you for trying!

It does, doesn't it? I saw the first of those movies, where the guy wakes up after the nuclear war, but I never saw the one where he gets captured by the matriarchal society.

I wish that I could give more of a description and more facts, but the sad reality is that I wrote down all I could remember of it. I imagine that it is one of those Kindle books that one might order as a print book upon request. I don't remember the cover art, except that it might have featured a picture of the curve of the Earth from space.

Rachel Adiyah | 21 comments Solved! I accidentally answered my own question. The book I was looking for is 50,000 A.D. The Awakening by J. Jack Bergeron 50,000 A.D. The Awakening. A man is preserved from an asteroid impact in 2012 and awakens 50,000 - not 10,000 - years later. However, the history of this future time only goes back 35,000 years, and not everybody is willing to believe in a secret ancient history that was forgotten.
