Jake Martin is not your ordinary sleuth. He's an ordinary guy with an extraordinary dog. Thus begins an adventure that takes Jake and his golden retriever from their Colorado retreat to a backwater town in the Missouri Ozarks where they search for cold-blooded killers, a cache of gold coins buried by Jesse James, and the love of a beautiful nurse.

This book was not that great. The writing did not draw me in and I didn't feel like I wanted to keep reading this book. (view spoiler)[ The dog is just a dog. He does not do anything to really help figure out what is going on. He found one thing that helped Jake, but it was just something he found playing. It is not like he really lead Jake to figure out what happened. (hide spoiler)] Do not read this thinking it is about the dog. It is written as if Jake just recaps what he did to figure out what is going on.
