Books With Chi | 22 comments So I read multiple books. Audio books for when I'm in the car or doing chores or puzzles. Physical books before bed. Kindle for when I'm out and about. The only problem is I'm never out and about and I only get a 30 minute break at work that is spent eating, so my poor little kindle books don't get read.

Annerlee | 2868 comments I know where you're coming from. Because I read different formats in different contexts, the books I read in a week will depend on what activities I've been involved in. And if I get a lift into work, my reading suffers because I feel it's ignorant to ignore the driver and read.

I like to listen to audiobooks on the bus to work, but there are certain people I have to ignore to do it - folk that would normally expect to chat away to me quite happily. So my audiobook progress is also affected by what other people's lives are doing that week too

Keeping a book to a specific format or reading in a specific place helps me keep the threads seperate in my head...

Annerlee | 2868 comments I wonder what unusual places / postures this group has read books in.. I'm almost too afraid to ask. We're a funny lot... in a good way of course...

My daughter used to lie on the stairs across multiple steps with a book on the highest one - she swore it was the most comfortable book reading position ever.

As a teenager, I used to have a favourite tree to climb and read a book in. I'd need to fill my pockets with crisps / sweeties etc so I could stay up there longer. The best thing was that I was hidden away amongst the leaves, but was high up enough to see what was going on if I wanted to. It got a bit scary on windy days though.

Hey. That's a great idea.. combining yoga stretches with reading.

Janice (jamasc) | 59873 comments I generally have 2 books on the go at the same time. I listen to an audiobook for a couple hours after I finish work. I also listen in the car when I'm driving somewhere (thank goodness for the sync function). I read either a print or ebook at bedtime. I tend to take longer to finish these since I doze off quickly. I'm starting to stop reading in bed for that reason. Instead, I'll sit in my recliner and read.

When I was a kid, I would lie across the bed on my stomach with the book on the floor. Or I'd sit in one of the chairs in the living room. I'd get so engrossed in what I was reading that nothing was safe around me. My mother startled me with a yell one day. She caught me picking the needles off the Christmas tree. There were a bunch on the floor from my efforts. LOL!

As a young adult, I'd escape in a hot bath and read till I was good and pruned. Now that I've had a knee replacement and another bad knee, I can't get in an out of a bathtub easily.

Books With Chi | 22 comments Annerlee, that sounds so cool that you climbed up a tree and read. I think I'm going to just need to stick to two books at once instead of three and that will help me read my books. But I really want to read both physical and kindle books at the same time too lmao. 1st world problems am I right?

I don't really have a favorite reading position. I like sitting in a chair and reading, but that's rare for me to do. I mostly read in my bed and I have the same problem with that Janice. I get so sleepy when I read.

Sarah | 18549 comments I have 3 books on the go - one kindle fiction, one kindle non-fiction, and one audio (fiction or non-fiction depending on my mood). I read my kindle fiction when I'm commuting on the train as well as home. I read my kindle non-fiction in between clients (the book is generally work related so it makes sense to read it at work), and my audiobook gets listened to when I'm doing chores around home, walking, or commuting by bus. I like having the variety, a book for all occasions. It does mean some get read quicker than others. My audios generally are the ones which lag behind although I'm pretty slow at reading generally recently.

Kristie | 19131 comments I always have at least two books going, one audio and one paper/Kindle. Right now, I have three, one of each of those. The Kindle is my slowest at the moment because it's on my nightstand.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I usually have at least three books going at a time. Like most of the above, an audiobook, an ebook, and a print book, but I have started as many as six or seven at a time. I slowly work them off of the list. Some read more slowly than others, or the action picks up in one and it gets done first because I cannot put it down. It varies with how busy I am at work, or when library books come all at once off of hold.

Annerlee | 2868 comments I havent read a print book for quite a while, but someone at work has kindly set up a windowsill of books for anyone to take and read. It's next to the microwave in the kitchen so I consider them most days...

There's nothing I would normally read (yet) but I AM tempted to start an extra lunchtime read. A few would fit the movie challenge...

I can vary from a one book kinda gal to 10! Depends on my mood really. I normally have a kindle book for when I am out and about or at night and then a print book for the day. I have tried on many occasions to listen to audio books but have been very unsuccessful - I find my thoughts wandering and then I realize I've missed a good 5 minutes!

Cherie, that is how I read too. I have devotional books that get a page a day read and the others are done the same way that you read. I also read frequently on my iPhone. This works well for those unexpected waiting times. Once you get used to reading on the phone, you can get a lot of pages read in your spare minutes.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Funny, Jackie. You reminded me that I had a book loaded on my iPod. I haven't thought about it in a long, long time. (I couldn't even remember what icon it was under at first.) Yes, it is still there in iBooks. (I usually only use my iPod for audiobooks.)

Thanks for the reminder. I need to finish with those Bohemians one of these days.

Jackie | 296 comments Cherie, you'll get to them someday, I'm sure!
