Very excited to be starting The Hod King!

Oh, I'm a slow reader also. I'm so behind this month.

Did you like The Invisible Library? I thought it was pretty good.

I thought it was okay. Some parts really dragged and I got a bit confused sometimes but it was all right enough for me to not drop the next book as I already own it so I'll read the sequel at some point and maybe that will pick up a little more.

I've looked at Seveneves and want to try it, but heard it can be a bit dense and overwhelming. I'm somewhat adept at science-y prose but more the popular science level; I don't have an academic background in it or anything and can get cross-eyed at sci-fi that's too technical. What did you think?

Currently on my 3rd read of Oathbringer. In my opinion fantasy doesnt get better than this! Feel free to pick my brain if you're lost or confused...

Yeah, I would have to agree with people have said, it is pretty dense and very heavy on the technobabble, and while Stephenson is pretty heavyhanded in his approach, you still get a general sense the problems/solutions he is describing.
I really know nothing about orbital mechanics and the like, but I still knew roughly what he was aiming for. I would say give it a go because you would know within the first 50 pages whether you can put up with it or not. And most of the story is really worth the time investment. (imo)
:) hope that helps
Joseph, gasp!
I read Kingdom of Ash, there were so many tears.
I’m on The Disappearance if Ember Crow which is so readable. My audio is The Trees.

You can handle Seveneves. I listened to it. Really good and the science is not overwhelming

I have guilt! And it'll be the first non-Cherryh I read, when the time comes. But the Cherryh books are so good!, and most of them I haven't read for probably 20+ years, so it was time.

Once I was into it I remembered how it all fitted together. I love it but wish that the conclusion wasn't going to be quite so far away. I'm sure I've read somewhere that it is a projected 10 book series.

Thats true but I hear its structured as 2 five book arcs so there ought to be a satsfying conclusion in book 5. Remember though - Journey before destination.....

Two five book arcs sounds better although I still hope that there aren't too many years before the next one.
