Courtney Maxie | 4 comments My 8 year old is an advanced reader. She enjoys a variety of genres for her age, but esp likes nonfiction. I am finding it a challenge to find books that are academically engaging, yet content appropriate. She still finds most disney films to be too intense to get through. Any suggestions? She is working through The Little House series, and she has read several of the "Who was/is____" series. Would love to hear what you are finding.

Audrey Baker | 2 comments I have found the "I Survived" series to be engaging for advanced readers of this age group.

Courtney Maxie | 4 comments Oh, yeah:) I forgot about those. She read one a year or so ago about a shark attack in a river from long ago. We may need to revisit. Just picked up a book at the library, titled, Hoot. Know anything about it?

Audrey Baker | 2 comments Hoot is another good title. I won't say too much (for fear of spoiling it), but my son liked it as well. After he read it, we checked out the audio-book and listened to it as a family during our daily commutes. It is really an enjoyable novel. If she ends up liking it, I would suggest reading "What came from the stars" by Schmidt if she hasn't read it already.
