My thoughts are another mini series... I really enjoyed the first one so I’ll see and will recurve my judgement till I watch this one... I really liked the remake of IT and I’m thinking that had a lot to do with the movie venue.
Another one that I won’t be able to see because I only have cable. 👎🏼

Good idea about going to the library and I saw yesterday the castle rock season 1, but I was unsure about this. Any thoughts about the rock??

I don't subscribe to CBS All Access so maybe I'd check it out if it ends up being available on DVD down the road.
Usually they offer a 30 day trial for free. So wait til it’s over, get trial, binge it, then cancel. I subscribe for Star Trek Discovery and have heard to a lot of the same complaints about paying for another streaming service in various discussion boards for that show too.

Turns out a lot of shows my son likes (that disappeared from Netflix) were on Hulu. So I kept it.
Star Trek Discover season 1 is on DVD now. I am going to check it out from the library. That’s how I watched Mr. Mercedes, Westworld etc.

CBS access only offers a one week subscription free. There’s to many streaming services now so I’ll have to wait for the dvd as well.
I've been thinking about getting the access channel for Star Trek, so maybe I'll bite the bullet. I'm not as excited about this remake though because I enjoyed the original so much. We still have it on tape, and pull it out to watch it once in a while.

I have high hopes for the Stand but I’m trying not to get them up too high. We just watched the 11/22/63 miniseries and loved it. It was hard for me to disconnect it from the book because of so many differences. As usual, the book is better.

i am looking forward to a new mini-series adaptation for The Stand. its an excellent story, an epic journey. the possibilities with the evolution of technology&production are limitless. heres to hoping they do it justice because surely the potential is there unfortunately its not always utilized. i loved the original mini-series in the 1990s i was a kid. i did just recently watch it and it felt really cheesy like it just didnt stand the test of time. but hey its still a must-see classic in my opinion
My two cents... The mini series suffered since the medium is TV, which gets dumed down. However, the Lincoln Tunnel scene was superb in the book and the mini series.... If you eliminate the cheese factors you still get a pleasant surprise in that the story on TV was connected to the actual book.

If you eliminate the cheese ..."Of course, TV isn't dumbed down these days. Some of the best content being produced is on television. They're putting the big bucks and the big technology into it now. Game of Thrones, etc.
Nick the 90’s weren't very progressive on tv compared to 2018 and continuing forward on to 2025 which who knows may be we will see the running man on TV...

How about Duma Key. Could you believe what a great TV mini-series that would make? DAMN!! But for now, Mr. Mercedes is pretty good.
Nick my reference was 2025 to see the running man in an actual TV show and not a adaptio... Duma Key is a good choice

Sounds like a good cast if the rumors are true.
Vanity Fair has posted a piece on this, with some still photos and thoughts from some of the cast. Overall it looks promising except for Harold, who seems quite wrong. Harold's weight and the bullying he endured because of it was such a huge part of forming his character.
So what r the thoughts about Fran? I totally dig the new Stu. I've seen him in other movies and yep he is spot on.... 🆗 I'm totally can't wait for this to come about...
I think it looks good. At first I was unsure about Harold but I guess it can work anyway. I mean you can be bullied because of other things than being overweight and honestly, he sill looks quite awkward.I'm also curious about Whoopie Goldberg as Mother Abagail. I like Whoopie, but I also always see her as...well...Whoopie. Meaning I'm unsure wether she'll bring the necesary gravitas to the role.
I guess it will take a while for this to be released anyway.
I saw Woopie as a nun and if she can pull that off then Mother Abigail is easy peasy nice & easy...
I like what Whoopie said in the VF article about playing Mother Abagail as a complete person, with both strengths and weaknesses. She's not this perfect avatar or messenger of God; she doubts and fears, and struggles with pride. As a side note, that King chose to give this particular character -- an old black woman, a trifecta of categories that historically have been ignored, marginalized, and treated as expendable -- so much pride that it actually affects her relationship with God was, I thought, pretty cool. Although for the record I'm an atheist and I think every ounce of pride she had was totally justified :)I don't know anything about the actress cast as Frannie but she certainly looks like I imagined her, and as she is described in the book -- much more than Molly Ringwald, who I liked in other things but did not do a good job in the earlier tv adaptation.

Bill as Flagg will be something that I believe will be over the top... His pennywise touched my heart...
Alexander Skarsgard will be playing Flagg, not Bill. I really wanted David Tennant to play Flagg though, he really fits the part.

For some reason I always imagined Randall Flagg to look like a younger Bruce Campbell, although his performance would probably be completely over the top.

I think it looks good but I was thinking the same thing about Whoopie.
I am personally quite excited to see Alexander Skarsgard as Randall Flagg. I am a big fan of his. He is a very good actor who is very good at being evil yet very charming. I was surprised but thought it was a good casting choice. I also think James Marsden is a perfect choice to play Stu Redman. Can’t wait to see it.
Anything is better than a dreadfully miscast and way too old Molly Ringwald as Fran. I like Molly but she wasn't right. The new girl looks far more promising. Very excited about Owen Teague who brilliantly although briefly played Patrick in IT as Harold Lauder. That looks a great casting decision.

I read that it was initially postponed because of the pandemic, you know, for obvious reasons. But is filming even done? If not, december might be a close bet.Edit: Ok, just read that filming was finished in March. Really looking forward to December then.
I may have to get the service just for this.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the release of this show, but Barnes & Noble is releasing one of their leather bound collectibles of this book. I assume uncut since it's listed at 1200 pages.
