The Stand - CBS All Access

I don't know what to expect from this but I hope it's amazing. I'm not going to subscribe to the CBS service for it, but once it's at the library I'll totally watch it. That's what I did with Castle Rock.

That’s what I did with Mr. Mercedes. I would borrow the DVD from the library when it comes out.

I tried Castle Rock and honestly couldn't get into it but there are a lot of good reviews on the show.
I don't subscribe to CBS All Access so maybe I'd check it out if it ends up being available on DVD down the road.

That’s how I got stuck subscribing to Hulu, a 30 day free trial. Turns out a lot of shows my son likes (that disappeared from Netflix) were on Hulu. So I kept it.
Star Trek Discover season 1 is on DVD now. I am going to check it out from the library. That’s how I watched Mr. Mercedes, Westworld etc.

Not that it’s any consolation but recently I went to CBS all access because they were streaming the Super Bowl. CBS access only offers a one week subscription free. There’s to many streaming services now so I’ll have to wait for the dvd as well.

We loved the TV version of 11/22/63, not as great as the book... but still very credable.

i loved the original mini-series in the 1990s i was a kid. i did just recently watch it and it felt really cheesy like it just didnt stand the test of time. but hey its still a must-see classic in my opinion

Of course, TV isn't dumbed down these days. Some of the best content being produced is on television. They're putting the big bucks and the big technology into it now. Game of Thrones, etc.

If I were going to pick a super scary king book to be produced by a deep pockets TV network like HBO or Showtime, I wouldn't pick the running man. How about Duma Key. Could you believe what a great TV mini-series that would make? DAMN!! But for now, Mr. Mercedes is pretty good.

Right. I got it.

Sounds like a good cast if the rumors are true.

I'm also curious about Whoopie Goldberg as Mother Abagail. I like Whoopie, but I also always see her as...well...Whoopie. Meaning I'm unsure wether she'll bring the necesary gravitas to the role.
I guess it will take a while for this to be released anyway.

I don't know anything about the actress cast as Frannie but she certainly looks like I imagined her, and as she is described in the book -- much more than Molly Ringwald, who I liked in other things but did not do a good job in the earlier tv adaptation.

So did I and I love Whoopie in most of her roles. I also think she will probably do a great job, it's just that she's so iconic an actress that I always see her as Whoopie Goldberg in her roles, if you know what I mean. I know, it sounds strange. I guess in my mind I also imagined her a bit differently, but same goes for Randall Flagg. Anyway, I'm hyped.
Edit: I just saw that Marilyn Manson will play the Trashcan Man. Well, that will be interesting.

Yeah, I feel that way about Nicolas Cage and Charlton Heston - no matter what part they're cast as, I feel like they're always playing Nicolas Cage and Charlton Heston :)

The Skarsgard family is big, one can get confused. And while we're at it, Gustaf Skarsgard might have made a cool Trashcan Man ;).
For some reason I always imagined Randall Flagg to look like a younger Bruce Campbell, although his performance would probably be completely over the top.

I think it looks good but I was thinking the same thing about Whoopie.

Very excited about Owen Teague who brilliantly although briefly played Patrick in IT as Harold Lauder. That looks a great casting decision.

I've always been a fan of both, especially James Marsden. I'm watching him right now in Netflix's Dead to Me.

Edit: Ok, just read that filming was finished in March. Really looking forward to December then.

No dates yet. Too bad this is CBS All Access. I don’t subscribe. Hopefully it will go to DVD after it airs.
