I'm gathering books to send to a soldier friend overseas. She likes historical fiction like :Shanghai girls, Molokai, boy in stripped pajamas, Sarah's key. Any recommendations based on those? Thanks for your help!

She may enjoy some of these:Dreams of Joy (sequel to Shanghai Girls; has she read this yet?)
Pearl of China
Jan Wong's China: Reports From A Not-So-Foreign Correspondent (reads like fiction)
Whitethorn
The Paris Wife
The Gift of Rain
Crocodile on the Sandbank (Amelia Peabody is a hoot; she's a lot of fun)
The True Story of Hansel and Gretel
I enjoyed these. Perhaps they sound like something your friend might like?
Honolulu by Alan BrennertThe Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
World Without End by Ken Follett
I really liked these two: March and Caleb's Crossing by Geraldine Brooks. She also wrote People of the Book and Year of Wonders although I haven't read them yet.
Thank you so much everyone! It's tough picking books for someone when you don't read quite the same genres... :D I really appreciate all the help and so will she when she's reading them!
