Jonathan Echevarria (gabrielzero) | 862 comments Me too buddy. I’m glad that you and I can both agree about the book. I’m happy it’s just not me. I worry that the more fiction I consume the more jaded I get. I’m happy that is not the case just yet.

Jonathan Echevarria (gabrielzero) | 862 comments I watched the movie version of Odd Thomas for the first time in a long time. So much better then the novels in my opinion. I totally recommend it if you haven’t seen it yet

Jonathan Echevarria (gabrielzero) | 862 comments That’s what my girlfriend said last night as well. While we were watching the Odd Thomas film and I was talking about how the books turn out she was like I never would’ve guessed based off the way the film was. It makes me wonder if maybe the books would’ve been better had he had waited longer to remove stormy from the plot.

Jonathan Echevarria (gabrielzero) | 862 comments Me too. Overall I feel like the writers attempt to make the protagonist someone who is humble and simple clashed with their side characters and their crusade to bring their “justice” with fire arms. I am not defending the antagonists and their sick ideals, just pointing out our heroes ideals had some issues that are morally ambiguous as well. I also don’t feel like this series of novels illustrated how to handle grief and mourn the loss of a loved one in a healthy way. The story at it’s core is somewhat a power fantasy that shows layers of immaturity that one would go on a morally justified killing spree avenging a dead love one while saving the world. I feel that in a attempt to doing something unique with his written word, the author instead wrote something that I would caution interested readers to read with a grain of salt. Perhaps that is a over simplification and I am curious if other readers took the same “vibe” away from their own reading experience.

Mehmet | 1241 comments the way Odd went from anti gun to pro gun was a bit extreme. Got a bit annoying in the end when all these dodgy gun dealers were portrayed almost as Saints themselves
