OMalleycat | 1448 comments Since I returned to the board I’ve seen some of you mention FictFact and gathered it had something to do with series order. I figured it was similar to Stop You’re Killing Me, but with non-MT books as well. I always thought I’d look in on it some day.

When the board is slow I sometimes go back and read some of the thousands of posts I missed while on hiatus. This week I found the thread where Carol and the rest of y’all discovered FictFact in its infancy. Until I read the posts I had no idea what FictFact did! How cool was it that one of Fictfact’s creators dropped in on that thread? (And how do three people create and run the site “in their spare time?”)

So naturally I’ve been joyously listing and detailing my series. The only problem is that I’ve now got about 50 “next-up” books on my conscience. Between that and the books on my TBR whining “me next. ME!” I’m going mad!

But in a good way. . .

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Jan O’ExcitedCat: Yes! Isn’t FictFact great! I use the “next books” feature regularly after compiling my own collection of series books to follow several years ago.
It is an amazing undertaking. I don’t use it for social interaction (never took the time to try to figure that out) so if you see something we are missing in that regard do let us know. I really enjoy checking off a book read in my on going series over there and sometimes spot a new book future release sooner than I would otherwise.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments What Ann said. I still use FictFact to keep my series straight and I don't let the fact that my list of next-ups is endless! It's especially helpful when I've abandoned a series for a while (like Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar or Robert Crais' Elvis Cole) and have forgotten where I left off. Like Ann I don't do their social (in fact I didn't even know they HAD a social component).

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments And what fun that you are going back in time. I had forgotten about that thread but remember that the owner popped in, which was very cool. Keep reminding us of stuff you find interesting, it's fun to reminisce!

Probably, Ann. That isn't of much interest to me because I can barely keep up with my own list, let alone get ideas of more series to read from someone else, LOL.

Dan in AZ | 2960 comments On the subject of Fictfact, is there a way to delete series that turned out to be a bust? My series list has some entries I will never continue, and they are making a long list even longer.

message 9: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Dan: It looks like you can - from the series page the green Follow button has a drop-down option to unfollow. :)
I have a few I should probably do that.

Susie Fevella (susieinks) | 1798 comments I love Fictfact and use it to motivate me when I can't decide what to read next :) I do delete series when I no longer enjoy them too.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Susie: I also find motivation and my series lists on FictFact help me feel accomplished when I tick off another book I've been meaning to read. I use it sometimes to pace myself on a series I hate to end.
I just finished To Catch a Witch which is a series I wanted to savor, knowing there is still a book yet to read after this one.

GThanks, Ann. (a typo but I like it).
