Elise Keppler Hi all - I just read this and I liked it, but I thought parts were a bit cliche and not believable. It was impressive to see how the main character navigated her two worlds and it was interesting enough to keep reading. But I also found it really not believable that her parents continued to stay in a place with such intense gang activity and violence when they had the capacity to go elsewhere. I think they would have needed to make it a bit less extreme on the violence to be convincing. The story also felt a little packaged in terms of her finding her voice and then shouting from the rooftops. Look forward to see what others think!

The Potatrovert As a non-black who has no knowledge of the culture, I think it's really hard-impossible even, to judge the accuracy of the events discussed in the book. Of course there are some things that may be perceived as unrealistic (it is a fiction book afterall) but other than that, I don't think I can have a say in a cultural climate that is not mine and that I have never experienced.
