You'll need external links from domains with reasonable to high domain authority (internal links or outbound links alone won't cut it). You can do a lot of that stuff right and Google will ignore your website when it comes to generic keywords. You'll only be found if someone, for instance, types your author name + title of your book/series.

A good way to earn yourself some external links is to write some original content and make sure you add keywords in your headings and the copy (don't overdo it).
