The Chase by Elle Kennedy - Restarting February 10th 2022

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.

And that his best friend has a crush on me.

And that I just moved in with them.

Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?

He knows where to find me.

Have you started yet? I'm eight chapters in and loving it!
Did you read the Off-Campus series?

No I haven’t read that series? Was I supposed to?

I was just about to start reading

No it's just a spin-off of that series :) So far I'd say you can easily read it without having read Off-Campus

Chapter 12
(view spoiler)[I loved how they all ended up in the bathroom over an argument. Pretty awkward indeed!

Oh, and I also loved this quote from Fitzy:

“But for me, there's nothing better than feeling the firm surface of a sketchpad under my hand, hearing the scrape of a pencil or the rasp of charcoal moving across the page. Drawing on paper and painting on canvas is so ingrained in me that I can't imagine ever relying solely on technology.
I'm sure eventually museums will display only digital screens instead of canvases, and maybe it makes me a dinosaur, but that notion is a real bummer to me.” (hide spoiler)]

Oh ok. Well dang. I’ll read this one but then I’ll start with the other series

Also, I’m dying to take a lot of the classes mentioned in this book! I had a Color Theory class in high school and it was my fav! I’m such a design nerd. (hide spoiler)]

So I never ended up posting much. But here are my final thoughts
(view spoiler)[ I was really into the story for like the first 75% of the story... then it started to go down hill. I didn’t like how easily everything wrapped up. It was like the bad guys apologized and that was it and they all lived “happily ever after.” I was just hoping for more from the ending and it left me feeling unsatisfied. 😞 (hide spoiler)]

Even when I plan out my weeks and month, I prefer a physical planner over putting everything in my phone. There’s something just so concrete and reliable about writing/drawing. There can’t be a glitch or the battery can’t die and lose your info. It’s just nice to see what your body can create. (hide spoiler)]

I was a little disappointed. It felt like it could really use an editor :/ So many passages of "nothing." I really didn't appreciate that.

I'll definitely read on, right now mostly because of the old Off-Campus characters who're making appearances, but also because I have faith in Elle's writing and I think the next book will be even better. Here's to hoping!
