More Amazon Tagging

I’ve been reading the really useful Amazon tagging thread, but through lack of time, and as my book isn’t released yet, I haven’t joined in.

So I wondered if anybody would like me to tag their book(s)? I’d be happy to do so. If you email me on VictoriaTwead at gmail dot com with the title(s) and whether it’s Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk, or both, I’ll trot along and check the tag boxes.

Do you know, I still don't understand how tagging works. Do I tag my books to other people or do I tag other people's books to mine?

Hi Karen,

I'm new to this too, but if I understand correctly, it means that if lots of people have tagged keywords describing your book on Amazon, it makes it more 'findable' to potential customers. Like if someone types in the keyword 'Spain' and 'comedy', then hopefully my book would pop up. (Except my book isn't even released yet!) Please correct me, anyone, if I've got that wrong at all.

Victoria and Karen, Tags are like search categories and make it easier for users to find your book in searches. So, put in the tags that you think your book falls under, people can click on the same tags. The more tags you have for a certain category , the higher up you will come in a search, so we can all help each other out. Scroll down below your book on amazon and you will see where to add tags. Does that help?

I've been a bit slow on the uptake as I had not realized that one could add tags of other people's books and increase the hit rate. I have tagged everything that I could from today's post (Alice, Brett and Victoria) and will now pay more attention.

There is another thing that one can do, and I write as a Canadian. Many of you may not know that Amazon's various branches do not talk to one antoher. If you want a book tagged for the USA, Canada & UK (as suggested by Victoria) you have to enter each page separately and do the tagging. With that in mind here are links for my two books for each of those lists. I don't know how to reduce the length of the links like Victoria has done, so I'm afraid that they are longish, but I guess that will not make any difference

I find that while my own tags have grown a bit on the Amazon.co page nothing has happened on the Canadian page of Amazon.ca. Hi Jerry, I tagged your books on Amazon UK. I think you need to have a separate account on Amazon in each country, because when I went to tag the UK one I had to set up a new signature (I already had an account, just never used it).
