Adfi g to the challenge, as much as possible I will read or reread books from my personal library. If I don't have a book that meets a challenge criteria, I will use our public library or buy from a used bookstore. No on-line or retail purchases.

I'm doing the same thing: books I already own, Kindle Unlimited, library, thriftbooks.com, or borrowed from friends. It's been fun.
I am a librarian and I have a monthly club meet at the library based on the challenge. We do everything we can to not buy books and this is my 4th year doing the challenge without having bought one book. Granted, I'm all for buying books, especially from independent bookstores, but as someone who is surrounded by books daily, and very little room in my own house, it makes no sense for me to buy.
I occasionally buy books when I volunteer at the library's used book sale, otherwise all my reading is borrowed. I have accounts at multiple library systems, so that helps.
Frank, I'm also trying to do the same thing for this challenge, either borrowing or reading what is in my personal library. Of course I've already broken that personal challenge, but I bought a used book. I've revised my challenge, to only buy a used book for the challenge if all else fails.

I used to buy a lot of used books from half.com, but when ebay bought it and merged, its usefulness went away.
I do try and do this. And mostly it works. But this time I’m struggling with the Oceania task. I can’t find a book that fits from my library

Yes for a fee.

Have you spoken with your librarian? Maybe they have a solution.
I usually use my personal collection, especially the TBR pile, for about half of the Read Harder challenge, and fill the gaps by going to my local used book store and finding books under $5 that'll fit. This year's a little tougher than usual. I have a feeling the LGBTQIA comic, Diversity Award winner, neurodiverse book, Oceania book, and trans/nonbinary author will take some more searching and requesting and library work, but that's the spirit of the challenge, I suppose.
