I just got back into reading last year - something like 9 books. Yay me! Still looking for that "can't put it down" maybe combined with "maybe I'll just sleep with the lights on" book. When I was young I would get several books for Christmas - usually Stephen King and Hardy Boys (don't judge me) - and they'd be done in a couple days. Usually well executed in my folks' leather sofa by the fireplace. Any "can't miss" recommendations?

Geo Since you like Stephen King and the Hardy Boys I suggest you look at Mr. Mercedes and the subsequent books in that series!
Many thanks. For clarity, I liked the Hardy Boys when I was a teenager :-) Any other suggestions appreciated.
I figured the Hardy Boys were in your past Geo! :) My Mr Mercedes suggestion still stands unless you prefer not to have a little "woo woo" in your books, but a Stephen King fan would probably like that aspect too. Its a great series!
Jane Harper's books have been enjoyable group reads so perhaps the February group read book The Lost Man will be better than the January selection. :)

I'm not sure what woo woo is but I'll give it a shot. The book that is. Looking forward to the next group read.

I echo Ann's recommendation of the Mr. Mercedes trilogy. I think we read all three here as group reads.
I'm thinking you might also like the sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep.
Barry is right to steer you to our Top Reads for 2017; the ones we all agree on are the cream of the crop! And you can check back with us to see if they were pageturnerish.
I just finished my this book and it was spectacular: Monkeewrench http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10...
