ABANDONED. Book series; boy with troubled past

Hi - I am trying to remember the name of a book that I read a few years ago. I remember a lot of details but not title or character names.

Brother and sister share an apartment. Brother runs into old friend at a bar and invites boy to stay on the couch in their apartment. Boy left after scarring incident from childhood (fire? Mom died?). Sister comes home to find boy staying on their couch. Sister and boy get close; he comes into her room every night and they talk. Sister and boy fall in love. Brother finds out about sister and boy and goes ballistic. Big fight and boy leaves town. Boy goes to Las Vegas but eventually comes back (on motorcycle). Boy and sister move out and eventually buy a fixer upper house. Boy remodels entire house by hand. Brother and boy eventually make up - they are best friends.

Anyone remember this book?
