Shade had set himself up at the diner. He and Adam had actually had a quick test run of this yesterday and worked out all the kinks so now it was all good to go. It was probably good though that Kim took her time in making her decision, gave Shade some time to settle. It indeed wasn't a dare but an invitation, and hopefully what would be something good and light.
Back at the apartment, upon seeing Kim seemingly hesitating as she gazed at Shade's note, Hush got up from the couch and padded over to her. He tapped her gently to get her attention - hopefully it didn't startle her too much since it had become a regular occurrence from him now - and when she turned to look he actually smiled at her and signed. 'It's a good thing.' Then after a pause he added, 'Plus, he says Adam has been asking about you. He is worried. Maybe you could see him?'

Hush was indeed quite confused when she talked about it being far. He frowned and tilted his head at her in that confused puppy way Shade had referred to, though it was completely genuine this time. He watched as she looked out the window and he understood that she probably felt scared. But when she finally said that she would go he perked right up. He smiled again and signed. ‘Shade will like if you come.’

At her question Hush have a shrug and it was probably the most casual gesture Kim would have ever seen from him. But there was something about his expression as his lips rigged upwards, and seemed to want to go even further then he let them. ‘Probably.’ He signed, tilting his head at her once again.

Kim was probably lucky Hush wasn’t the type to get annoyed, otherwise he might have ushered her out the door! The boy ducked his head and gave a nod as Kim asked if he was staying here. He still preferred to go out only when Shade was at his side. Though he looked up and smiled softly as he sighed. ‘Hold down the fort as Shade says’.

((No worries ;) ))
Perhaps a little unfortunately for Kim, the diner was more crowded then it usually was. As soon as she walked in through the doors she would hear music. Practically all the tables within the diner were occupied, and it appeared some people had even wandered in from the street for a moment, just to watch the source of the music, a brown haired boy who looked like he'd only just reached the age of 20. But as Kim listened, she would easily recognise Shade's voice as he sang. He was playing a guitar and singing in the same fashion as he had when busking on previous occasions, seated on a chair as he played. The only difference now was that his guitar was plugged in to amplify the sound. Though Shade still didn't know how to actually play, it didn't matter, he just strummed the rhythm of the song as a background while he sang.
Somehow Shade had eventually convinced Adam to let him play here as some entertainment for customers and maybe even an opportunity to attract more, since he absolutely insisted he needed to do something in return for Adam's help and helping with the man's business seemed the next logical step since he likely refused help on any other level. They had done a trial run last night and it had turned out great, the customers had loved it and promised to spread the word about the talented musician performing at the diner, so even more had turned out to watch him tonight. He didn't play too loudly so people could still engage in conversation if they wanted, but many were often mesmerised by his performing. Since he didn't perform to get people to dance or such, he sung songs with more meaning and emotion. And as Kim entered, he was in the midst of such a song now. A song that struck deep on a personal level for himself, and perhaps Kim would sense how...
And finally it drives me mad
Unravel this world around me
just before it pulls me under
But now at this rate I fear it’s too late
Give up your searching
I don’t want to be found
Your gaze would haunt me
I’ve thrown away reality and it has changed me
I’m not the same, don’t call my name
Don’t wanna hurt you
But if you must see, look through your memory
That’s where I will live on…
This loneliness is infinite
It’s laughing at the innocent
I can’t tune out the memory
I’m screaming out for mercy
Unravel me, unravel me,
Unravel my soul.
Unravel...
Ohhhhh-ohhhhhhh
Inside I’ve been shaken, my sanity taken
Our broken halves, they intertwine
From once was yours and once was mine
I’m breakable, unbreakable
I’m shakable, unshakable
I won’t let you contaminate me
Unravel this world around me just before it pulls me under
But now at this rate I fear it’s too late
Give up your searching
I don’t want to be found
Your gaze would haunt me
I’ve fallen for a wicked trap but still you reach for me
So close your eyes and say goodbye, before I’m history
But if you must see look through your memory
Because that’s where I’ll live on
So, don’t forget me
So, don’t forget me
So, don’t forget me
Please - don’t forget me
The changes inside were enough to paralyze
I doubt I’ll survive in this hellish paradise
So, if you miss me look through your memory
So, teach and tell, so teach and tell...
Is someone else in me,
Just waiting to break free?

One could hear the emotion in Shade's voice as he moved through the song, even someone who didn't know him well. And to those who did, it was clear what the song was about, and what parts he might have been singing for certain people...

Kim most certainly was tempted to leave almost immediately but the voice and the music froze her in time. And so she didn’t recall taking a step somehow she had sidled her way among the tables and moved closer to the bar where the register was and she could actually get a line of sight to the stage of sorts where he was playing from.
It was beautiful, sad, but beautiful. When he said our broken have intertwined she couldn’t help thinking of the two of them. And then he Set a phrase that almost mirrored what she had wrote. ‘You can’t contaminate me‘... she just stared her eyes begin to fill with tears. Each word carried with it so much emotion but even deeper meaning. Her legs weekend and she had to brace herself on the counter. She could listen to him sing forever and even though she was hearing him in this moment taking in the weight of the words and the passion of his voice at the same time she was back in the bedroom after what horrible thing happened to her and he was singing to her.
And as silly as it might’ve been it was in this moment she realize something. I love him... it wasn’t because of his voice that she realized it but it was like a puzzle that I had only a few pieces missing yet it still hadn’t made any sense until this moment right now, at least it wasn’t a jumbled mess it was a clear picture and as little as she knew about love she knew her heart was swelling with it. Desires she had never entertained or allowed herself to think before, made her dizzy. She had noticed that she increasingly wanted physical contact with him but resisted because of… Obvious reasons. And now in this moment there’s nothing more she wanted dad to hug him and maybe… Maybe even kiss him.
Her face grew hot, and this feeling grew overwhelming. Worst of all she was sure everyone around could see it and idiotic girl infatuated such a wonderful young man. No matter what he said she still believed he was too good for her. How she wished she could heal was broken places and maybe it really was more than friendship that made her write those words before. Her heart ached with a longing she did not understand. Shade...
((Ohhhh ikr I love it! Unravel by AmaLee. I was a little conscious about him doing it in front of people but I'm like ah screw it just do it its too good of a song for him and Kim XD I actually discovered it pretty recently myself. It's apparently from the anime Tokyo Ghoul you might have heard of it? I haven't watched it but I had heard of it. But the way I found the song was through yet another one of those awesome Warriors animations XD
Here it is if you wanted to see it (don't worry it's not quite as violent this time ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4A-_P...
Also oh my gosh your post is so beautiful too awww Kim!))
As Shade finished the song the occupants of the diner applauded. Shade ducked his head, at first seeming a little embarrassed at all the applause as his eyes darted, not daring to look at one spot for too long. And that was how he spotted her. His eyes rested on Kim and he stilled. He of course couldn't know what she was thinking, but there was some kind of connection he felt there as he met her gaze. And his own heart swelled. He was so glad she had come. So then, without shifting his gaze from her, he started to pluck at the strings of the guitar and a new song began. The applause abruptly died down as people realised he was starting again so soon.
He considered making an announcement, dedicating the song to Kim. But, he didn't want to draw attention to her, he knew she wouldn't want that. And well, he didn't want everyone to know. She would know, only she would know this song was for her. Something he wanted her to hear and know. And so he made the subtlest nod in her direction, the message in his eyes clear. This one's for you. It might not have been the happiest song, but it was real. And he barely looked away from her while he sang.
You say you feel so down
Every time I turn around
And you say you should've been gone by now
And you think that everything's wrong
You ask me how to carry on
We'll make it through another day, just hold on.
'Cause life starts now.
You've done all the things that could kill you somehow
And you're so far down
But you will survive this somehow because life starts now.
I hate to see you fall down
I'll pick you up off of the ground
I've watched the weight of your world come down
And now, it's your chance to move on
Change the way you've lived for so long
Find the strength you've had inside all along.
'Cause life starts now.
You've done all the things that could kill you somehow
And you're so far down
But you will survive it somehow because life starts now.
All this pain
Take this life and make it yours.
All this hate
Take your heart and let it love again.
You will survive this somehow.
Life starts now.
You've done all the things that could kill you somehow,
And you're so far down.
Life starts now.
You've done all the things that could kill you somehow,
And you're so far down.
Life starts now.

Aww thank you! I tried desperately for her to not come off something for Stop at her genuine reaction ^_^ as I told you I struggle with romance stuff XD ))
Kim flushed when he made eye contact with her and held it. A part of her wanted to look away but something made her on able to she just stayed looking at him and then she saw a small gesture of his head and did it mean what she thought it meant? And then even as he saying he was still looking at her. It was in that moment something she had only read about happened, it was as if there was no one else in the room time and space really didn’t come into account she wasn’t in a diner and there weren’t tons of customers and walk ins.
It was just him, singing to her. At first her chest tightened and then her heart fluttered. The air in her lungs felt lighter in her head grill little fuzzy the corners of her eyes stung as moisture gathered. She just looked at him and those words washed over her like a waterfall of affection. She had to grip the bar to keep her self from walking over towards him. She was drawn magnetically so desperately wanted to go to him. How could she ever say what she really meant, what she wanted to say. As the song ended and the inevitable applause came she stood, captivated. A soft gentle smile glued to her face, her eyes sparkled with delight as she looked at him.
((Aahhh! Perfect song! ^_^ I forget Kim sang earlier right? But did anyone ever hear her?))
((Oh yeah. I sort of don’t have the ability to watch a lot of anime’s unless they’re on Netflix or something, otherwise who knows I may have got into it. But yeah I’m not exactly pursuing it either but seems cool. I’m sorry you got me curious now what kind of certain things in it do you not care for? ;)
As something what? And hey it’s fine ;D It’s your character, and trust me it’s lovely! ))
Shade finished the song and again his shoulders rolled forward slightly at the applause and he immediately just looked to Kim. Something in her expression moved him, and he felt he just wanted to go to her. He noticed she seemed to be gripping the bar and he hoped she wasn’t overwhelmed by being here. So he quickly announced to the audience that he was taking a little break. He set his guitar down on the floor leaning against the chair before hopping up as casual chatter filled the room. He immediately made his way over to Kim, grinning as he reached her. “Hey, recognise me?” He asked jokingly and chuckled, obviously referring to the fact that he was in a different form. “Thought it would be the safer option. Spade did say I shouldn’t exactly be going out and about until the trial but...” Shade shrugged. “Since when do I follow rules?”

((Do you mean like in front of people? I thought the only time she sang was when she went on that run all alone?))
((Oh Wait Hold on, forgot a bit of my post))
Shade then tilted his head at her concernedly. “Hey are you alright?”

For her to not come off as forced ))
Kim exhaled a shaky breath as he came closer, every single nerve in her body ached to jump, wrap her arms around him and hug him. “You were wonderful…“ Her words were choked with emotion. “I... I just want to hug you and say how incredible you were... are.” She felt like she needed to be a little more vocal, especially after that even if he was in a different form he was basically bearing his soul and away singing to her was always such a powerful thing and some sort of communication that happened between the two of them during those songs and she just felt the need to be more vulnerable with him in whatever way she could have seen her words were about it. “I loved it I’m so glad I got to hear it.”

((Oh gosh yeah that’s really creepy I didn’t know anything about that. Yeah ew XD
And ah yes actually Hush has heard her sing oh remembered that correctly! Shade hasn’t though I’m pretty sure))
Sure he’d just sang to her so he should have expected her to say something like this but still Shade was taken aback at her words and he widened his eyes slightly, startled. “Oh, r-really? Uh, wow, thank you.” He stammered, His smile broke through but his eyes also darted a little shyly. Now the feeling between them was almost a physical presence. He shifted on his feet before meeting her gaze and then smiling at her. “Uh, well, you... You can if you want.” He finally murmured, meaning she could hug him. He seemed to stand a little straighter, as if in readiness. As if opening himself up to her. He was giving her permission. Though... he’d never actually let her hug him as a human yet, there had been that one time when she had just done it and even though he hadn’t minded it had shocked him a little. But this time... there was something about the moment. He felt ready. He smiled again. “I’m glad you did too. I wanted you to...”

But this time... there was something about the moment. He felt ready. He smiled again. “I’m glad you did too. I wanted you to...”

It was a good thing that she was caught up in the moment, otherwise she might notice other people were looking at them which more than likely they worsen she was hugging the performer. “I-I can’t even put into words what I felt from your song...” tears were breaking through now, as she whispered into his ear.
Shade breathed a warm-hearted laugh as she said she wanted to run onto the stage. “It means a lot you feel that way. You know, you’ve given me the courage to sing. I was a little nervous about the crowd.” He said lightly and chuckled. Indeed it was a little awkward but it was actually always the best action possible for dealing with someone who had gone through trauma, to ask for permission to hug, Shade would have done the same towards Kim. So when she hugged him he hardly even minded, he even smiled and hugged her back rather enthusiastically, but gently of course. Shade didn’t exactly care if people were looking, the performer was allowed to have friends and people he knew too right? “I can’t find the words either.” He said and smiled at her as he pulled back to face her again. “That’s why I look for them in songs. When words fail, music gives the opportunity. I like songs that tell a story. You might not be able to dance to them but I prefer to listen to the meaning anyway.”

Shade smiled as she understood. He simply nodded. “Songs are just great.” He said cheerfully. He chuckled as she said she tried to sing along to her favourites. “Is there any song you’d like me to sing?” He asked, tilting his head at her. He hummed in agreement. “I’ve come across a lot of songs in my time, I like listening to their stories, the ones that have real meaning.” He rolled his eyes slightly. “Not the silly ones about... you know, stupid stuff.”

"True. But definitely more true." Shade said in response to her statements, a wide smile gracing his face. "And people can add their own meanings to those sorts of songs, associate them with whatever they want to. The meaning doesn't have to be rigid or universal, it can be adapted for any means." He added. After all his creator had done exactly that many times, in particular using a song for a book series for one of her own book ideas, one would think the song is stuck from one person to another but she imagines it as two of people singing certain parts of the song to each other. Shade looked at Kim curiously and tilted his head. "Yeah? What song is it?"

“It’s a band called skillet… The song is, Um...” She wrung her hands. “Fire and fury.” She glanced up. Wondering if he even knew what the song was. It was one of her favorite bands because of the emotions and the fact that they often would use violins and do duets.
Shade smiled and seemed to perk up. "I know the band and I've heard of the song actually but I don't really know it." He admitted. "You could get it up on your phone? Show me how it goes and then I could just have the lyrics in front of me and I can play it if you want?"

Maybe it was good her maybe not but Adam had chimed in because he had been eavesdropping. “Actually we have the ability to do a bit of karaoke, I can print out some sheet music for the song and the two of you could do a duet.“
“Wha- I- In front of-“ Kim stammered.
“Of course, I’ve heard you sing while you were cleaning up. You have a lovely voice. I will just tell everyone it’s open karaoke, I was want to do something like that so why not try something different!“ He bustled off to make it happen.
Kim was hit with that overwhelming sinking sensation in the pit of her stomach. But then she looked at Shade and, something surged within her. “I... would that bother you?”
Shade also jolted at Adam's sudden appearance and honestly he thought the suggestion seemed a little too abrupt for poor Kim, he understood after all she was still recovering from something so terrible and it wasn't as if performing in front of a crowd was an easy thing and she was always so bashful as it was - whereas he at least had experience performing. So he might have defended her, until Kim actually spoke up, and her words surprised him to the point it took him a moment to actually close his mouth and recover. "Uh, n-no of course it wouldn't bother me. If-if you are willing to do it...?" He stammered uncertainly.

Shade watched her and then saw her hold her hand out. Instantly he took it, but as he looked at her he was still worried. He didn't want to make her do this. "Are you sure? You don't have to if you don't want to... I don't want to force you to..." he trailed off, again not finding the words, but surely Kim would be able to understand... Any thoughts of his own humiliation or embarrassment were the furthest things from his mind right now.

Shade sniffed in amusement at that, still he was concerned and wanted to make sure she was okay. Then as she said she may sing with her eyes closed he smiled. "Doesn't bother me. You do what you want, and if it gets too much you can stop, don't worry." he told her and gave her a reassuring nod. We'll skim over and say Kim quickly showed Shade a video of the song so he could gain a sense of the rhythm and pacing and the way it was sung while Adam printed out the sheet music, then they made their way back towards the stage together.
((When they perform wanna put a clip of the song so I know how it goes too? ;D I think I've looked at it before but I can't remember how it goes now))
((When they perform wanna put a clip of the song so I know how it goes too? ;D I think I've looked at it before but I can't remember how it goes now))

Kimberly showed him and let him get an idea of the rhythm and the lyrics and it really wasn’t a complicated rhythm as far as songs went but it had a very powerful message in the words and he probably would catch on to one of the reason she loved it so much just with that one listen but it was a whole different world entirely once they start singing, and when everything was set up I like squabbled as she walked with him still holding his hand up to the stage and Adam announced that they were doing a sort of karaoke. End it would be open mic once these two performed.
Her heart was pounding so hard she was beginning to think this really was a bad idea and she thought she might have some sort of panic attack. It she turned her eyes to look at Shade, and as the music started she couldn’t take her eyes off of him. She had always like this song but now maybe it was taking on a different meaning. Instead of closing her eyes she found herself just staring at him instead. And she sang, sang like she never had before, with passion and affection. She saying so intensely it hurt not her throat but her heart. She felt the words more than ever before.
Every brick and every stone of the world we made
Will come undone if I
(If I can feel you here with me whoa oh)
In my sleep I call your name
But when I wake I need to touch your face
'Cause I
(I need to feel you here with me whoa oh
You can stop the aching
'Cause you're the one I need)
*I will burn, I will burn for you*
With fire and fury
*Fire and fury
My heart hurts, my heart hurts for you*
You're love burns within me
*With fire and fury*
whoa oh
If I freeze you are the flame
You melt my heart, I washed in your rain, I know
(You'll always have the best of me whoa oh)
*Destiny's got a hold on me
Guess I never knew love like love knows me
'Cause I*
(I need to feel you here with me)
*I will burn, I will burn for you*
With fire and fury
*Fire and fury
My heart hurts, my heart hurts for you*
You're love burns within me
*With fire and fury*
whoa oh
*Let it all fall down to dust
Can't break the two of us
We are the safe in the strength of love*
You can stop the aching
*'Cause you're the one I need
I will burn, I will burn for you*
With fire and fury
*Fire and fury
My heart hurts, my heart hurts for you*
You're love burns within me
*It burns, it burns, it burns, it burns*
Whoa oh
(Oh)
Whoa oh
(Oh)
You're love burns within me
*With fire and fury*
whoa oh

*Both singing*
Shade guided Kim up there as she wobbled, and there was a stool ready for her to sit since presumably they were both going to be seated because likely neither of them would be able to stand through this. He started to play and then he saw Kim look up at him and his own breath caught he only barely managed to start the song in time since it started practically instantly. Unfortunately he had to glance away to consult the lyrics many times for it was hard for someone to memorise a song that quickly. But as he sang, his own chest swelled. For the words... Good God he FELT the words. And as he sang he too realised something new, a new feeling, a new part of his very being, it filled him and it burned as much as the song said it did. And as he looked up and sang with Kim, it only soared higher. He was on another plane, singing with Kim in this way. In the final run through of the chorus which was pretty easy to remember anyway, he didn't look away from Kim once and instead just stared into her eyes as they sang, their voices intertwining, alight with the intense fire of passion and connection.
((That song is SO BEAUTIFUL oh my gosh! Especially for them <3))

Kim finished and even managed to smile she wouldn’t say she was good is the woman who sang it originally but she felt it sure passionately enough and had it not been for the crowd growing into applause she would’ve forgotten that they were there. She had been drawn into his eyes magnetically locked but the clapping shook her from that state and her eyes darted to the crowd her face going scarlet.
Thankfully Adam came to the front rushing to distract the audience as the two probably wanted to make their getaway. “How about that!? Anyone have the courage to follow up an act like that one?”
((Had to post once more. Had you never heard that song before? XD))
((It really is so nice! Like I said I definitely had sought it out before because I’ve tried like every song from that band but idk just didn’t connect to it last time so I didn’t keep listening to it and almost completely forgot it but it definitely rang a bell when I listened to it))
Shade met her gaze and it felt like they were just in their own little world, and indeed he was jerked out of it from the noise of the crowd’s applause. He saw Kim go red and his lips immediately tugged into a smile but he also quickly came to her rescue helping to guide her off the stage while Adam took up the spotlight. As soon as they were clear Shade stopped and stared at Kim. “Kim you were... that was... Amazing. Beautiful. Incredible. I don’t have enough words...” He finally said and just exhaled a breath in awe. “I need another whole song just to describe that.”

“You were wonderful, so easy to sing with. I... it’s surprising, but I want to do it again with you, but...” she glanced past Adam at the crowd. The message was clear, not in public. She couldn’t believe she even did that, what had possessed her to do something so... crazy?! Then her eyes met his again and she knew what. Her blush deepened even further, which may have become alarming to anyone else. “I...” She struggled with words.
Adam’s voice rang over the microphone. “Our resident stars will be gone the rest of the day, so enjoy the first ever open mic.” His way of also dismissing them to leave. Talk about what just happened more privately.
Shade's smile tugged wider at Kim's words. "So were you, you're a natural. You sing so beautifully." He said to her warmly. At what else she said he was actually quite surprised too though he tingled with excitement and, something else. She wanted to sing with him again? He noticed her glance though and he couldn't help smirking slightly in amusement as he got her message, not in public. He was honestly floored she had done it as well that was why he had assured her she didn't have to if she didn't want to, but she had and it was amazing, however he knew it was probably best to not make a big deal out of it just yet otherwise she might freak out from the aftermath. Then he saw her blush, and heat suddenly rose to his own cheeks, but at the same time he found her incredibly cute in this moment.
He jerked to look in Adam's direction as the man spoke over the microphone, then he heaved a sigh of relief. "I should have thanked him for that actually. It was a good idea and i could use a break." He then smiled back at Kim, lifting the guitar strap from his body and holding it by his side. "Want to go home?"

Shade grinned, and without hesitation he took her hand as she reached for it. "Let's go then." He declared cheerily and led the way to the exit and they headed through the door and out onto the street. The cool night air was crisp and refreshing, delightfully pleasant.
((I was almost tempted to have Hush be having some sort of panic attack when they got back but nah i don't want to freak Kim out more XD))

((Yeah and I think he’ll be OK maybe on edge but I don’t think he would be having a panic attack because he’s proven he’s pretty tough but maybe sometime later he can be having a real upset moment and that can be our option to have them do the duet thing again))
((Yeah but they can come at any time can't they? even without a trigger ;)
I think honestly that's just a nice spot to leave off then unless you wanted to do something else?))
