Shade hesitated for a moment and then sighed. He wasn’t annoyed exactly but he didn’t exactly like this. “I don’t know it’s not me Spade, it’s what happened to Kim. I don’t feel like it’s my place to say.” He admitted. “I think she would have to be the one to tell if you if anything.” He said hesitantly. “She’s okay as she can be after being abducted anyway.” He added with the tiniest trace of curtness.

((Ok, just this one? Do you want a reminder for the other ones? Or I guess this sort of works as a reminder for the other ones anyway XD
And argh no not the dreaded heat stroke again!))
And argh no not the dreaded heat stroke again!))

Spade tensed at the tone he was receiving. “Look I’m not trying to make you go against what you believe is right, and it still is pretty soon but… I may not know what trauma she may have endured, but it’s possible she needs to see a professional, therapist or psychiatrist. Someone to help her process what happened before she internalizes it and it gets it deep in their rental take years to dig up and properly heal.“ He sounded as if he might’ve had some experience With it, but he wasn’t an expert he didn’t know what was best he just knew he had had the other end of the spectrum or he never went and saw anybody and paid for it. Dearly.
Shade listened and it wasn’t that he didn’t want to hear this, it just made him breathe shakily and anxious feelings stir. He let out a heavy sigh. “I... I know... She just... hardly wants to talk to me I can’t get through to her. I doubt she would react well to a suggestion like that... I... I don’t know what to do.” He admitted, his tone evidently laced with worry.

((How absurd?))
Shade winced, worry and panic and anguish warring within him. Encourage her, carry out her requests, do anything he could for her. Yes he could do that at least right? “O-okay. Thank you.” Shade managed to say with a whole lot of gratitude when Spade said he could call him if he needed any help. Shade pursed his lips. “This May be a dumb question... But what exactly might a catatonic state look like?” The question carried more dread then actual lack of knowledge.

Spade exhaled a slow breath doing his best to calm his racing heart. “Well, I guess the best description is when someone is completely unresponsive. They don’t react to outside stimulation. They’re there but completely unaware of what is going on around them. It’s dangerous when someone goes into a state like that. It could be a sign that she is in danger of a psychotic break. Though it is different from someone being I believe the term is ‘zoned out‘? Basically they’re thinking so intently about something that sometimes you have to snap your fingers in front of them to get their attention, but catatonic is literally as if they’re in another world completely and unable to leave it.”
Shade pursed his lips as he listened. Kim certainly had seemed a little zoned out but she hadn’t been completely unresponsive... But now... No one was with her. He had to make sure she was okay. “Alright. Th-thank you Spade. For everything. I... I’ll call if I need you. Bye.” He said slowly and hung up the phone. Then he spun around and hurried back to Kim’s room, hesitating before he opened the door slowly and peered inside. “Hey, Kim? Are you okay?” He asked softly.

—
Kim at some point just laid down. She felt ill, she didn’t want to eat, and she needed to use the bathroom, but... she didn’t want to get up. She wrapped herself in the blankets again, hiding all but some of her face. She had even started crying again, but this time she didn’t even know why. It was a flat out war, her thoughts, What Hush had signed to her, the men who had hurt her in the past, Shade’s words. It was all too much for her brain to process and hold. She felt immensely overwhelmed and it instead made her feel hopeless and depressed. “Y-yeah.” The one word quavered, was thick with emotion, strained to even be audible. She really had to use the bathroom too!
Despite how much it broke his heart to hear Kim speak like that, the very first emotion he felt was a flood of relief at the fact that Kim responded. He was about to step in but thought better of it. “May I come in?” He asked first. It was important to let someone establish the boundaries after something like this, to help them realise they had the choice again. He of all people knew, and not necessarily from his own inner experience, more to do with handling Hush. “I just wanted to make sure you’re okay. I know it can be... scary to deal with something like this, and I mean that’s the understatement of the century. But it’s best to... not be alone sometimes...” He ventured tentatively.

Shade sagged with relief, glad she responded, though the tremble in her voice caused a pang in his chest. He pushed open the door and stepped in. As he stared at her the usual questions came to mind. Are you alright? How are you? All dumb questions right now. “Are... Are you feeling any better?” He asked hesitantly. That at least seemed like the least terrible and dumb question right now. Judging by the look of her now though the answer was probably pretty obvious.

((Oh damn it the italics stuffed up!))
Shade pursed his lips, clasping the door tightly as if for reassurance. “Oh, do you want me to leave? Uh, get out of your way?” He asked awkwardly. Though he was confused when Kim seemed to hide under the blankets more. He sagged. He so badly wanted to help but he didn’t know how...

((Hey it’s okay. No worries))
Shade gave a little gasp, pained at seeing Kim so distressed like this. He pushed open the door and padded in. “Hey... Hey it’s alright... Calm down.” He said gently, not at all condescending or anything just trying to be comforting. He then frowned slightly. “It’s too far?” Though, of course he knew what she really meant. “It’s okay Kim, it isn’t just your room that’s safe. This is your house. You’re safe here... I’m here for you Alright I’m not going to let anything bad come in here...” He tried to reassure her but he didn’t know how much good it would do.

Shade frowned in slight confusion as he listened, but then finally widened his eyes. Oh was she not going because... Oh Kim... His heart gave yet another painful pang. One thing that was both unfortunate, and in a sick way somewhat fortunate, about his experience was that he had been forced to spend a lot of time without clothes, to the point he simply wasn’t uncomfortable with it. However he’d experienced with Hush, who had been very similar to how Kim was now, and well he could understand. “I know... I know...” He said softly, reassuringly. His gaze hardened. “They have no claim over you Kim alright? No matter what your body is still yours. Don’t give them that control. You’re okay...” He wondered if he was doing any help...

Shade pursed his lips, but there was no judgement from him whatsoever, just pure concern for Kim’s state. Honestly he was prepared to get her a bottle to do it in if that was what she preferred. And it pained him to watch as she rocked like that, like a little child in need of comfort. He almost desperately wanted to be the one to give her that comfort. But then as she went ahead and asked that question and he lifted his chin. “Kim I would die before I let anyone else in here.” He said firmly and placed his fist to his chest. “You have my word. You’re safe here as long as I’m here. I promise.” He declared. He wouldn’t have blamed her if he knew the other fears she was feeling. After all he’d undeniably felt the same when she’d first invited him and Hush in to stay. Most sadly so, it was practically inevitable.

Shade rushed forward immediately, but his movements were smooth and careful, not too sudden so as to scare Kim. "Of course." He murmured in answer, he would have offered her his hand but she extended hers first and so keeping his gaze set gently on her as if constantly seeking permission and consent from her, he took her hand and helped her up. His creator knows exactly what her creator is talking about when it can get so painful after holding for so long. Shade was tempted to try and smile her to give a bit of comfort but it didn't seem like the best idea...

Indeed it saddened Shade that even just walking was difficult for Kim right now but he hoped it was just because of how much she had held onto her business. If she allowed him he would take her shoulders very gently, as if trying to touch her the least possible, and helped to walk her to the bathroom. He made sure to very easily and smoothly let go as she stepped into the bathroom and he backed right off so she could shut the door. Her space. That was what she needed.

Her creator won’t go into detail, but needless to say the act of exposure even in this private setting relapsed flash backs. So as result she took a significantly long amount of time before she was able to go, calm and redress. In her haste to leave she had almost forgotten to wash her hands even. Though she did remember and now hurting significantly less, and a bit more clear headed she started to open the door slowly. Seeming nervous, she had been in there quite a while.
Shade simply waited outside though as Kim took longer and longer he started to pace a little worriedly. But he decided against calling to her thinking she just needed her space. He went to check on Hush again and make sure he was alright and then his little brother bless his heart promptly sent him back to look after Kim. He returned to the door and was about to call to Kim out of concern when it seemed like the door was opening and he quickly stepped back and stood against the opposite wall, greeting Kim with a kind, gentle smile for when she saw him. “Alright?” He would ask gently when she came out.

((Wait what? Hush is still in the living room he didn’t move. Shade went to check on him and then came back :) ))

((Ohhh got it, sorry!))
Shade smiled more as she said she was alright. As she announced the bathroom was free he tilted his head. “Uh, thanks. It’s fine no one was waiting.” He said, continuing to smile for maybe he was ever so slightly amused, and trying to make light of the situation. “Would you like anything to eat?” He asked her, realising she still hadn’t eaten yet.

Shade perked up, happy she was eating. “I’ll make you something!” He instantly offered cheerfully and led the way in an excited hurry to the kitchen. “Uhh I’m not sure...” He drawled as he opened the fridge to check, and his creator will let Kim’s creator give the say so since she controls all in the apartment.

“We do indeed have eggs!” Shade announced cheerfully. “Quite a lot actually. Would you like me to cook those for you? How do you want them?” He asked Kim lightly, pulling the eggs out. Of course if there was in fact omelet leftovers in there and Kim preferred that he’d be fine with that too, but he was happy to make her something if to give himself something to do.

((I feel like our roles are finally switched. I'm usually the injured, untrusting, uncertain character and you're usually the one trying to help them or whatever but finally you're the poor character who needs help and is all scared XD))
Shade put on a wide, kind smile, trying to reassure her when she appeared to be stammering. "Absolutely, coming right up." He took out the eggs and the various utensils he would need to cook up the eggs, then glanced at Kim as she stood there uncertainly and he smiled at her again. "Go get yourself comfortable Kim while I make them, Hush might want some company." He said, gesturing with a nod to where Hush sat on the couch.

Kim lifted her chin looking towards the kitchen and then looked back at the couch. “A-all right…” Her voice was small, It was funny in her own apartment she was needing to be told what to do because she wasn’t even comfortable in her own skin right now. She kept hugging her self as she walked over to the sofa and took a seat carefully on the edge of the cushion. As if afraid she would bother someone by the addition of her weight on the couch.
((Yeah, I meant the trauma too. You're doing amazing! And hey it's up to you really, she's your character ;) ))
Shade set to work making the scrambled eggs for Kim, taking pains t make sure they were perfect for her. He cracked the eggs, added the bit of milk and started to scramble them.
As Kim sat down on the couch Hush moved to sit up more, regarding her as she sat. His face fell at how sad she seemed. Cautiously he moved closer to her but not too close to make sure she still had some space and then he signed. 'Are you okay?'

Hush only regarded her with gentle concern. He wasn’t expecting her to say she felt fine. Though he wasn’t sure what to say in response now. At least she wasn’t feeling terrible, right? He hesitantly started to sign. ‘You always do for a little while. Before you realise things will be okay.’ He was speaking from his own experience after running away with Shade from the brothel. ‘We are here for you. Promise.’ Hush added.

Hush smiled back at her, glad she responded positively at least.
Presumably it didn't take Shade too long to cook the eggs and soon he was bringing them to Kim. "Breakfast is served." He said lightly, handing the plate to her with a cheerful smile. "If anything isn't to your liking I can make more again, don't hesitate to ask." He added, worrying if he'd done it right for her.
((Sorry I'm getting a little lost as to where to go from here now...))

“I think I want to go lay down, if that’s OK?” So funny that she was asking for permission when it wasn’t necessary.
((Your fine, we are due for a time skip. Do we move to the trial?))
Shade was concerned when she burned her tongue and reached out to help her, asking if she was alright but she seemed to recover eventually. He moved away to give her space as she ate, knowing she probably didn’t want him hovering over her, and went to clean up the kitchen from the results of his cooking. When she was done and asked if she could go lay down he widened his eyes slightly. “Of course. You don’t have to ask! Do what you want.” He told her gently.
((Ooh okay, you sure you want to go that far? What was the deal with that again?
Oh wait I did just think of something. See what yours and Kim’s reaction is to this... XD))
When Kim returned to her bedroom though she might finally notice the little mess in the corner of her room, the haphazardly delisted grocery bags with the things she had gotten for Shade before she’d been abducted, like the fuguzetta - if that was what it was called his creator can’t quite remember. The food laid sprawled across the ground, unopened, and the bags were lying on their sides as if they’d been tipped upside down and emptied of all their contents. And amongst the mess, was a note, if Kim managed to find it...
Written on the note was the address of what would turn out to be the old warehouse Kim had been taken, along with a few words.
I will keep her alive. Hurry.
