Did anyone see The Giver? If so, what did you think?

I saw The Giver with my kids and liked it, but they seemed to change things to accommodate a romance, which I thought was unnecessary. My daughter heard rumors that there was a rape scene prior to seeing it, but there wasn't. Also, the question as to Jonas' survival is not in doubt, but a different cliffhanger takes its place. It sounds like if there is a sequel, it will depart from what's in the following books even more. I'm curious where they'll take the story line. Anyone else?
