That is a tough question to answer for me because it changes all the time. Some of the top faves...

Kiefer Sutherland from lost boys. Too hot!
Selene from underworld. One badass chick.
Bones from the Night Huntress series. So mysterious and sexy
Angel from Buffy the vampire slayer. So tormented and Smexy (Smoldering Sexy)
Eric from Trueblood for the same reason as above. ;)

I would also add BOTH Alexi and Kai from the Blood Haze trilogy by Tara Shuler; love both for different reasons. I don't know how the author made her heroine choose between the two-I couldn't have. Xx

I like Rhage, Wrath, And Butch from the BDB. I like Lord Akeldama, too. My favorite vampire, though, is Jaden Blackthorn from Dana Marie Bell's Gray Court series-tall, dark (of course), handsome, snarky and possessing "white knight" tendencies. What's not to love? And I can't forget Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's vampire, Saint Germaine. He's a complex and fascinating character who has lived over two thousand years (and several books) as a warrior, an alchemist, a merchant, and/or an aristocrat.

I've kind odd been going through a "vampires are so overdone" funk lately (blasphemy, I know :D) but even with that, Matthew de Claremont from Deborah Harkness's "All Souls Trilogy" managed to find a way into my heart. He's such a complex character and doesn't let being a vampire define him.it's part of who he is, boy only a part - there's so much else beyond that.

Oh that's a hard question.... For TV it's Eric Nortman as number one... Followed by Spike, Angel and Stefan. For books my number one is Bones from the Night Huntress series followed closely by Vlad Tepesh and then Wrath and Vishous from BDB... Also Mikhail from The Dark series and Lucan Thorn and Dante from The Midnight Breed series... Though there's many many more lol

TV - I'm Team Damon (TVD) all the way! Sexy Damon, Snarky Damon, Serious Damon, Dark/vicious Damon. And don't get me started on Damon Dancing or Damon doing that "eye thing"! *swoon* I'm a big fan of Klaus, too. (ETA: I've only watched the show; I have not read any of the TVD books. Still debating about that...)

As for True Blood, Team Bill, although Eric and Pam were pretty awesome characters. (Only read book 1, not a fan of the author's writing style, but watched the entire TV series.)

Books - LeStat and most all Anne Rice vampires are so good. But currently my favorite book vampires -- Gio from Elemental Mysteries and Michel, Julien and even Soren from Dominion series. Samson and Amaury / Scanguards vampires are pretty good, too. (I've only read 2 in that series; need to read more!)

My TBR shelf is full of vampires listed above. Glad to hear I have so many good books to look forward to.

I'm really sorry guys, I can see how popular he is from all the love he's getting, but I really can't get along with Bones; he's just such a bad caricature of what British is supposed to be. I'm British, and I spent the whole of the book cringing at him. But to each their own!

I love Vampires in my stories so please feel free to recommend me some books!

YES! I was heart broken when this series was cancelled after only one season.

OK, we all love the sexy one (GUILTY) but I also loved Elvis as a defective vampire in the Sookie Stackhouse series. He was like a dog that never could be properly trained. Plus, I loved having a vampire character that wasn't the stereotypical vision of sexy perfection.

I have to weigh in here and say, for sexiness, Damon SAlvatore.. for appearance, Luke Evans from Dracula 2014. He was pretty awesome in that role.

If books, then Zadist from JR Ward. And Deveraux from Linda Hamilton series about a shrink... he sounds awesome too.... drool :P

I definitely prefer the baddie-vamps. I mean, I love a tortured soul, but for whatever reason, they have to be a ‘human blood’ drinker.

My favourite female vamp is Claudia (Vampire Chronicles). Oh, sweet, scarred, murderous little angel.
Speaking of angels… as some of you have! Angel from Buffy is probably my favourite when it comes to romance because he is a baddie half the time, and a tall, dark, smouldering tortured soul the rest... the switching back and forth really worked for me.
But leaving romance aside, and I see a lot of you said this too, David from the Lost Boys is the ultimate villain. But I do love how Lestat is so philosophical. And Dracula is just classic! Argh! So hard to choose. V''V

Ever since I discovered Anne Rice it's been Lestat for me. The cocky, self-assured alpha who knows what he wants and just how to get it...combined with the glimpses of a tortured soul who's just trying to find love and meaning...
His looks don't hurt either..yum!
Purely based on looks - it would also have to be Louis and Armand.

Dracula has to get an honourable mention...

Shows/Movies:
I'm behind most of you on this one - haven't seen most of the more recent vampire shows/movies.
So Angel is sort of up there for me (if I'm feeling for brooding and romantic) and so is Spike (badass appeal!)

I'm not a fan of vampires who can move around easily in the day (glowing skin nothwithstanding) or who can have offspring in the natural human way...something just seems wrong with that.
