Thanks! You can keep it if we want to have a spoiler-free thread! I'll get some thoughts together for the discussion tomorrow!
To get us started, here’s a helpful (spoiler free) blogpost from the author on the meanings of the names in the book:http://nnedi.blogspot.com/2013/11/pen...
The thread for the discussion of this book is at the bottom of all the discussions - perhaps a moderator can move it up?I found a couple of reviews that might be of interest:

Thanks, Linda, I moved it up. Also thanks for the links, good reviews without too much spoilage.
Has anyone read the prequel, The Book of Phoenix? A few years ago, I listened to what must have been an early version of the first part on Clarkesworld. I think it was the first thing I ever heard from Okorafor. Here's a link to the story, print and audio version. Interestingly titled "The Book of Phoenix (Excerpted from The Great Book)"

Also, excellent choice, Bretnie!

So weird, all of the links work for me! I haven't read the prequel, but I had heard her short stories read on Levar Burton Reads:https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/stit...

Yeah, I didn't copy the link. It's there now.

Sorry to be leading such a slow discussion on this one! If people have other thoughts to add, feel free to add them at any time! I'm glad we read this - the book pops into my head and random times, and I'd be curious to read more of Okorafor's books when I'm in the mood for her style. Thanks for talking through some interesting issues!
