Pollyanna (polly8) | 94 comments Okay I have been looking through them and one kept sticking out to me, I think it is something a little different and looking through the shelf I actually don't have many on my tbr so I think it could be quite a challenge.

My pick is: Medieval

message 434: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments like i said...soo many choices!! and because I was procrastinating at work today and trying to not accomplish anything, I checked some of the various ones out before I headed home...and so (drumroll please)...

as May in Armed Forced month, but I didn't really want to use War or Military as shelf themes, I picked:

American History

I saw a bunch of interesting books in there, some lighter readers than others, so hope you guys all find something you want to read!

message 435: by Tara (new)

Tara | 742 comments Congrats Dee!
American History sounds like a great shelf!! I can't believe how fast April went!!

message 436: by Liz (new)

Liz I already have a list of possible books ready for next month. :) This will be a great shelf for branching out my reading.

message 437: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 234 comments Just on the first 2 pages, I found 6 books that I physically have but haven't read, so I have plenty to choose from!

message 442: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (db_debber) | 101 comments congrats Dee, have to check out the shelf but sounds like it will be good.

message 443: by LynnB (new)

LynnB | 1769 comments Like Luann, I have a few on my TBR shelf that should be on that list. It will be good impetus to get a few of those books read.

message 444: by Pollyanna (new)

Pollyanna (polly8) | 94 comments Great choice Dee, looking forward to this shelf. I have quite a few classics on here and I have been meaning to read them for ages so this should give me the kick up the backside I need lol

message 445: by Liz (new)

Liz The Pulitzer winners were announced yesterday, & the books for biography & history will both work for american history - Washington: A Life & The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery. I just thought that was a fun coincidence. :)

message 446: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments ohh, the abe lincoln one looks good! I found quite a few I wanna read/listen to...just a matter of seeing if the library has them now

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) | 2895 comments Mod
What a great pick, Dee. I'm sure I have tons of books from that shelf waiting to be read!

message 448: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1370 comments I just got a note from my library that Assassination Vacation is available for pick up.

Of course, I don't know if I'll read that one for the category yet. I just found out that two people shelved The Fiery Cross as 'American History' so I'm tempted to use that one. Or to pick up Huck Finn or Dreams from My Father.

message 449: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments i picked up Wordy Shipmates by Sarah Vowell who did assassination vacation, it looks interesting...I would totally agree with the last 3 outlander series books being on the list because the role of the america revolution in them is fairly significant

message 450: by Candiss (new)

Candiss (tantara) Wow, three Sarah Vowell posts in a row! I have a library hold placed on her newest book, Unfamiliar Fishes, and hopefully my turn will come up by the end of the month. (It's about the imperialist invasion and take-over of Hawaii by the United States.)
