Shelf Picker
VERY interesting shelf! I have a shelf called 'world lit' but I think I like this name better. I may change it!

come, come, Dee... you should know by now the likelihood of HP on any particular shelf is higher than that it's not

Love that avi!
Tien just reminded me to pick someone for next month and I pick Karin! I will send her a PM in case she doesn't see this thread.
Thanks, I got the PM and am working on choosing the shelf and an avatar. I will do this from home (not there now) and am excited to do this. Thanks for the PM, since I wouldn't have seen this.
Hi Everyone, Karin picked me to choose the next shelf and after much deliberation I've gone with Must Read because everyone always seems to have an opinion on which book are the most influential or are simply the best of the best! There should be some interesting ones to chose from.I've also picked a picture for the avatar and popped it into the group photos.
Wow! I seem to read a lot off of this shelf. However, it looks like there are several on my WishList and some that I have planned for next quarter in another group. Good shelf pick, Karin.
I'm like Bea, I seem to read lots of books off of this shelf. I'm glad you chose it, I think it's great to see what other people find is a must read book and I'll be glad to pick books from this shelf :-)
hey. I got one issue on GR.. is there any way that, while scrolling down any shelf (fantasy, for example), GR only showed me the books I "want to read"? e.g.: while now it shows like this --> http://s32.postimg.org/bqa3qxv2d/fant...
I don't want other Harry Potter books to be seen, because I haven't added other than the first one yet..
I wish we could do that, Claire! But as far as I know, there's no way to sort the shelves in any way.

Hi Everyone,It's time to nominate the next shelf picker (thanks Tien for the reminder!) and I've chosen LynnB. I can't send her a message so I hope you see it here!
Now to get moving on finishing the book I picked for my own shelf...

Thanks, Sarah! I'm checking a few shelves and will post a choice soon.
Shelf chosen! I like to read from around the world and as I have books to read set in this country and by authors from here, I choose... Canada
I chose a Shelf Picker for August ... it's Christina! She's been notified and is working on a shelf choice.
Thanks LynnB for the nomination. I'm going to go with Creepy as my shelf, because there are many books on here that I've been dying to get to. I'll upload my picture to the group photos. Enjoy! :D
Wow, Christina! Super cool shelf! Interesting that there are other things besides horror in the first page of the shelf.
Thanks so much, LynnB, for staying on top of things as I've been otherwise occupied this month (sick household!).
@Christina: I don't particularly like the sound of 'creepy' but it seems I've actually read some of these books & got some on my tbr too so I think I can deal with this lol

One of the things that made me interested in this shelf was an article I read about some of the creepiest books of the past year, and it surprised me the variety of genres that made it on the list. I want to see what makes them worthy.

ooh, is that an online article?

Unfortunately no, it was in some magazine that I found at a friends house. I'm sure it's online somewhere but I cannot remember what direction to point you in. :(
I'm honored to let you know that Christina has chosen me as Shelf Picker for September. I've already worked on picking a shelf - I wanted to make it quick so as to give people the time to find a book that would suit them.September is the month in which many people go back to school, so I thought, why not pick School ? It'll be interesting to read books we missed in school for some reason, to re-read one of them, or even to see which different books are read in school by people of different countries.
I'll work on choosing an AVI soon, and will post the link here.
Hope you like my choice!
Good choice! I've already read a lot of the books on the first few pages, but I found The Count of Monte Cristo is one I have planned to read for years, so why not now?!
Love the choice Marina. Maybe this will help me knock off some of those "must read before you die" books. I was home-schooled so I did not read a lot of the books that most people had to in high school.

Is the Avi ready, Marina?

Hope you are feeling better, Marina. The avi is now posted and looks good. And, don't worry about being late. It happens to the best of us.

I've just sent Marina a message and asked her to double-check whether I should really be the one this month. My last time was Sept 2015, just barely over a year ago. So if you're eligbile (posted a review for the book you read in August) and haven't been shelf-picker ever, or for a very long time, message Marina to be sure she knows that.
If it turns out it's really me, I'll get going on it right away.
